Python Software Engineer
Summary
A Python engineer on the Client Success Team owns small-to-medium feature enhancements end-to-end for the Validus Horizon financial risk platform, spanning backend services, APIs, ETL data pipelines, and frontend components. The role blends hands-on Python full-stack development with client-facing stakeholder work in FX and interest rate risk.

Required
- Minimum 5 years of professional Python software development experience
- Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Financial Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Strong experience in Python used for data processing and financial applications
- Full stack development experience across backend services, APIs, databases, and modern frontend frameworks
- Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines and integrations, including APIs, SFTP, and structured market or portfolio datasets
- Experience leading small-to-medium scale software projects with high accountability and ownership
- Exposure to financial markets, including FX and interest rate products
- Experience communicating complex technical and financial concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Eligible to work in the UK
Preferred
- Experience with financial risk management software or platforms
- Experience in market data integration, trade lifecycle systems, or portfolio analytics
- MSc degree in a STEM field
- Understanding of risk modelling, pricing, or financial analytics concepts
- Experience working in client-facing or consultative technology roles
