QA Auto / SDET

Discussion

We're building a trading platform in Rust that trades on crypto and traditional exchanges around the world. Real orders and money flow through it, and the cost of mistakes can be high. We run as a single product team: SDETs and core developers share the same backlog. We're looking for an engineer who would write automated tests and dig into the root cause of failures in a distributed system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and write end-to-end automated tests for trading logic against real exchanges (Kotlin, JUnit 5, Gradle, gRPC, ClickHouse), covering protocols like REST, WebSocket, FIX, and binary SBE.
  • Investigate incidents and test failures to root cause — across logs, ClickHouse data, Rust platform code, and exchange behavior — working alongside AI agents that surface data and hypotheses.
  • Validate releases by triaging large-scale test runs across dozens of exchanges, filing well-evidenced bugs, and stabilizing flaky tests.
  • Build and maintain test infrastructure and tooling: fault-injection via an in-house MITM proxy, test trading bots in Python, and supporting Kotlin services (environments, configs, integrations).
  • Maintain CI and test environments and track automation metrics to guide quality decisions.
  • 3+ years in test automation or backend development in Kotlin/Java (or another strongly typed language, with willingness to move to Kotlin).
  • Strong SQL and experience with analytical databases at scale (ClickHouse is a plus).
  • Practical understanding of REST and WebSocket; FIX or binary protocol experience is a plus, along with the ability to read raw messages.
  • gRPC/protobuf, Docker, and pipelines in GitLab CI / Jenkins.
  • Linux administration: deployment, systemd, networking, diagnostics over SSH on test environments.
  • Observability: Grafana, Loki/Prometheus or similar.
  • Daily use of agentic AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex): delegating tasks, writing your own prompts/skills, connecting tools via MCP — and a critical eye toward model output.
  • Ability to independently navigate someone else's codebase and find the fix or the bug.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in trading, exchange integrations, or fintech; understanding of market microstructure (order books, TIF, post-only, funding, margin).
  • Rust — or willingness to learn it: you'll regularly need to read platform code and write tests in it; we'll help you ramp up.
  • Python for test bots and scripting.
  • Experience with mocking/proxy tools for traffic interception (Ktor, Netty, mitmproxy, WireMock).
  • Ansible and test-environment maintenance.
  • Experience with multi-agent systems: orchestration, verifying agent output, knowledge bases.

We Offer

  • Work in a modern IT company — no bureaucracy or legacy systems.
  • Real opportunities for professional growth and to make your mark.
  • Fully remote work from anywhere in the world, on a flexible schedule.
  • Compensation for health insurance, sports, professional development, and more.
