Summary

Mid/senior QA Automation Engineer in Portugal who designs, writes, and maintains automated tests across API, UI, integration, and regression layers, plugs them into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions on AWS/Azure), and applies AI-assisted testing tools day to day while embedded in Agile product teams.

We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer (Mid/Senior) to turn our quality engineering strategy into working automation, every sprint. Working alongside our QA AI Automation Staff Engineer, who defines the frameworks, standards, and metrics, you will be the person who builds, extends, and runs them inside

product teams.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role. You will write and maintain automated tests across API, UI, integration, and regression layers, plug them into CI/CD pipelines, and put AI-assisted testing techniques into daily practice. You will be embedded with developers, product owners, and DevOps so that quality is built

in from the first story, not inspected at the end.

You will help move from fragmented, manual-heavy testing toward a consistent, automated, and measurable quality practice across a unified, platform-led product organization.

Your Responsibilities

Test Automation Delivery

 Design, write, and maintain automated tests across API, UI, integration, regression, and data layers, using the frameworks and standards defined by the QA automation strategy.

 Translate user stories and acceptance criteria into test cases and automated scenarios from the start of each sprint, in partnership with developers and product owners.

 Extend shared automation frameworks with reusable components, utilities, fixtures, and test data builders that other teams can adopt.

 Migrate existing manual regression suites into automation, prioritizing the highest-risk and most frequently executed flows.

 Keep suites fast, stable, and trustworthy: investigate flaky tests, fix root causes, and remove redundant coverage.

AI-Assisted Testing in Practice

 Apply AI tools (LLMs, GitHub Copilot, or similar) day to day to generate test cases, test data, and automation code, and review that output critically before it ships.

 Pilot and roll out AI-driven techniques chosen by the QA strategy, such as self-healing locators, test generation from specifications, and AI-assisted failure triage.

 Use test analytics and defect data to flag high-risk areas and help prioritize what gets tested first.

 Share practical findings, prompts, and patterns with the wider QA community so successful experiments become team practice.

CI/CD & Quality Operations

 Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines where the standard is GitHub Actions, and hosting is AWS and Azure, so tests run on every relevant commit, pull request, and release.

 Configure quality gates, test reporting, and dashboards that give teams fast, clear feedback.

 Manage test environments and test data in collaboration with DevOps, keeping them reproducible and version-controlled.

 Track and report the quality KPIs defined in the QA strategy, such as automation coverage, pass rates, defect leakage, and execution time.

 Play an active role in incident management: help triage and reproduce production issues, validate fixes and hotfixes, contribute to root-cause analysis and postmortems, and turn lessons learned into regression tests

and process improvements.

Collaboration & Quality Culture

 Work embedded in Agile/Scrum teams, taking part in refinement, planning, and reviews to raise testability and risk early.

 Pair with developers on unit and contract testing practices and promote shift-left habits.

 Support and coach junior and manual QA engineers as they grow their automation skills.

 Give structured feedback to the QA Staff Engineer on what works in practice, so standards and frameworks keep improving.

What We're Looking For:

Must have

 4+ years in QA or software testing, with at least 3 years writing test automation in production codebases.

 Solid coding skills in at least one of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java, and comfort reading code in the others.

 Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, REST-assured, or equivalent.

 Strong API testing skills (REST, JSON, authentication, contract, and schema validation).

 Ability to plan and run manual testing, including end-to-end and integration scenarios, where automation is not practical or not yet in place.

 Experience running automated tests in CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps).

 Practical use of AI tools such as LLMs or Copilot to speed up test design, test data, or automation code.

 Good command of Git, code reviews, and clean-code practices applied to test code.

 Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.

Nice to have

 Experience with AWS and cloud-native test environments, containers (Docker), and infrastructure basics.

 Exposure to self-healing tests, AI-based test generation, or test analytics tooling.

 Performance or load testing (k6, JMeter, Gatling) and data or database testing (SQL).

 Security testing experience and familiarity with OWASP ZAP or equivalent tools.

 Active involvement in incident management: triage, reproducing production issues, supporting root-cause analysis and postmortems, and adding regression tests to prevent recurrence.

 Background in enterprise SaaS, automotive, ERP, or other complex, integration-heavy domains.

 Experience testing legacy platforms during modernization or migration.

How you work

 You turn high-level direction into concrete plans and working code without waiting to be told each step.

 You care about reliable, maintainable tests, not just a high test count.

 You communicate clearly with developers, product owners, and QA peers, and explain issues with evidence.

 You are curious about AI in testing and pragmatic about where it actually helps.

Languages

 English: fluent (primary working language).

 A second European language (French, Spanish) is a plus.
