QA Automation Engineer

Discussion

Summary

Mid-senior QA Automation Engineer joining migx's Data and AI Engineering team in Barcelona. You own test strategy end-to-end, build CI-integrated automated regression suites (Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress) and API tests (Postman, pytest + requests), and document bugs with the traceability expected in a life sciences consultancy's regulated environment.

We’re looking for a QA Engineer to join our Data and AI Engineering team. This is a mid-senior role for someone who can own test planning and execution independently for designing test strategies, building automated regression coverage, and safeguarding release quality without needing close supervision.

You'll work across our applications and platforms to test features end-to-end, build and maintain automated test suites, and dig into bugs at the browser and API level. We're a life sciences consultancy, so documentation and traceability matter as much as catching the bug itself .
We welcome QA engineers who take as much pride in rigorous, well-documented testing as in finding the edge cases. What You’ll Do
  • Own test strategy end-to-end for features and releases as defining scope from specs and user stories, designing test plans, and executing them systematically with minimal oversight.
  • Build and maintain automated regression suites (Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress) integrated into CI, plus API-level tests (Postman, pytest + requests) that validate endpoints independently of the UI.
  • Reproduce and document bugs at the request/response level using browser developer tools (Network, Console, Elements), including issues tied to sessions, tokens, and cookies in authenticated flows.
  • Raise, triage, and track defects with clear severity classification, and drive them through to resolution.
  • Coordinate regression testing cycles and UAT with business stakeholders ahead of releases.
  • Produce clear documentation like process runbooks, incident reports (root cause, impact, timeline, resolution), and test strategy/spec documents ready for stakeholder sign-off.
  • Collaborate with developers, product, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into testable, traceable acceptance criteria.
  • Apply the traceability and version-control discipline expected of QA work in a regulated environment.
What We’re Looking For
We’re committed to building a skilled and diverse engineering team. If you care deeply about writing clean code, delivering resilient systems, and collaborating across disciplines then this role is for you.

Core Experience & Skills
  • Test Planning & Execution: proven ability to own a test strategy end-to-end from a spec or user story with minimal guidance such as scope definition, traceable test cases, systematic execution, and release sign-off.
  • Test Automation & Browser Scripting: hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress, building and maintaining a regression suite that runs as part of CI.
  • API Testing: comfortable validating endpoints independently of the UI using tools such as Postman or pytest + requests.
  • Advanced Web Application Usage & Browser Tooling: proficient with browser developer tools (Network, Console, Elements) to reproduce and document bugs at the request/response level; understanding of sessions, tokens, and cookies in authenticated applications.
  • Documentation: strong written communication across process docs, incident reports, and test strategy/spec documents, with attention to traceability and version control.
  • Demonstrated track record owning test plans across multiple projects to be able to point to real examples of taking a feature or release from requirements to test sign-off with minimal guidance.
  • Team-first mindset and experience in agile environments (Scrum or Kanban).
  • SQL for querying a database to verify backend state and test results.
  • Domain knowledge of clinical trial data, healthcare analytics, or other regulated industry datasets.
  • Computer System Validation (CSV): familiarity with IQ/OQ/PQ validation protocols, 21 CFR Part 11 considerations, and deviation/CAPA processes in a regulated software environment.
  • Knowledge of Git/version control for collaborative development projects.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Understanding of GxP compliance, or other regulated industry standards.
  • Middle / Senior.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (our internal and client-facing working language).
  • Spanish and/or Catalan language skills are nice to have.
  • Hybrid work model and flexible working schedule that would suit night owls and early birds.
  • 25 holiday days per year.
  • Opportunities for career development and to shape the company future.
  • An employee-centric culture directly inspired by employee feedback - your voice is heard, and your perspective encouraged.
  • Different training programs to support your personal and professional development.
  • Work in a fast growing, international company.
  • Friendly atmosphere and supportive Management team.
