QA Engineer - 10 month contract
Summary
10-month parental leave contract QA Engineer at Webjet Group NZ (travel brands Airport Rentals and Motorhome Republic) in Auckland CBD. Day to day: reviewing user stories, writing and executing functional, regression and smoke tests on front-end websites and backend software, and logging/managing defects within agile teams using Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket.
About The Role
We’re looking for a QA Engineer to join us on a 10-month parental leave cover starting mid-October. You’ll be reporting to the QA Lead and working closely with the entire Digital team and wider business, to drive software quality in a variety of different contexts. The day-to-day involves writing and executing tests, supporting both regular platform maintenance and agile teams building exciting new capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review user stories and requirements for validity and feasibility
- Write test cases covering different scenarios that the end user may experience using test design techniques
- Perform functionality tests, regression tests, sanity/smoke tests etc on customer facing front end websites and backend software on various browsers and devices as required
- Log defects and manage defect life cycle
About You
This is not your first foray into software quality, and you have been a part of development teams in the past, supporting testing. You are not afraid to recommend fresh ideas and ask the hard questions. You’re ready for a fast-paced start up environment that has its sights set on growth.
Key skills and experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Quality Analyst / Software Tester
- Experience working with Confluence, Bitbucket and JIRA
- Experience working with Agile Methodologies
- Be able to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative to improve any systems being tested
- Work well with others in a team environment and be an effective communicator
- Experience working in a cross functional team within an agile framework
- Possess a can-do attitude with good time management skills
- Work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Be a critical thinker and have great problem solving skills
