QA Engineer
Job Summary
The Painting QA is responsible for inspecting and verifying painting and coating activities to ensure they meet quality standards, customer specifications, and safety requirements. This role requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in painting, strong knowledge of surface preparation, and the ability to identify defects and ensure consistent finish quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect surface preparation activities before painting to ensure compliance with requirements
- Involve in customer offering of painted job as per client approved ITP.
- Verify paint application quality, including thickness, coverage, adhesion, and finish
- Check for surface defects such as rust, contamination, uneven coating, runs, blisters, or peeling
- Ensure painting work follows approved standards, work instructions, and customer specifications
- Conduct in-process and final quality inspections of painted components or structures
- Monitor Ambient conditions once in 4 hours.
- Document inspection results and report non-conformities or defects
- Coordinate with painters, supervisors, and production teams to resolve quality issues
- Verify the use of correct materials, tools, and coating systems
- Support corrective and preventive actions for painting-related quality concerns
- Maintain inspection records and quality documentation as required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in engineering
- Minimum 3 - 4 years of experience in painting related fields.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation techniques
- Experience in painting quality inspection or coating inspection
- Ability to identify paint and coating defects
- Understanding of painting standards, procedures, and inspection criteria
- Good attention to detail and documentation skills
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions and quality requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing production or manufacturing painting QA
- Knowledge of coating thickness measurement, Surface profile measurement, adhesion testing and inspection methods
- Understanding of safety practices related to painting and chemical handling
- NACE 1 / BGAS Grade 2 will be an added advantage
