Jira ticket

We’re looking for a QA Engineer to join Internal Automation Services, the team building and maintaining the internal systems and automations that support MacPaw’s day-to-day business operations.

The team works across a wide range of internal tools and integrations for internal service teams. Its core focus spans key operational and financial systems (such as MacPaw's ERP, Odoo) alongside a growing portfolio of automation projects for internal clients.

As a QA Engineer, you'll take ownership of quality assurance across a diverse set of internal systems, with particular attention to the business-critical workflows that keep finance, legal, and other core functions running smoothly. You'll work closely with developers and another QA Engineer, choosing between manual, exploratory, and automated testing based on the needs and constraints of each project, while helping the team continuously improve its quality assurance and automation practices.

If you’re excited to bring structure, quality, and reliability to the internal systems that keep a company moving, we’d love to hear from you!

In this role, you will:

  • Analyze system requirements, business logic, and user flows across ERP modules (Odoo) and other internal projects to define appropriate test coverage

  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing across web applications and platform integrations (including Slack bots, AI agents, and third-party tools)

  • Design and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and checklists

  • Build, maintain, and improve automated test coverage where automation brings clear value

  • Collaborate closely with developers, business stakeholders, and internal client teams to investigate defects and edge cases, identify root causes, document clear findings, and ensure reliable fixes

  • Contribute to continuously improving the team’s QA practices and overall software development lifecycle, including the adoption of AI-assisted and agentic approaches

Skills you'll need to bring:

  • 2+ years of hands-on QA experience, with demonstrated ownership of test coverage for at least one product or system

  • Solid understanding of SDLC and software testing methodologies across various test levels (e.g. integration), test types (e.g. functional, regression), and testing approaches such as exploratory and risk-based testing.

  • Ability to design, write, and maintain test cases, checklists, and test plans, including for areas that require partial manual coverage (e.g., ERP modules, third-party integrations)

  • Hands-on experience in API testing (REST/GraphQL) using Postman, including environment configuration, writing test scripts, and a clear understanding of client-server communication

  • Ability to read, write, and debug test automation scripts using JavaScript/TypeScript or Python, with a solid understanding of basic framework structures

  • Practical, hands-on experience with test automation frameworks – running, maintaining, and debugging automated test suites

  • Hands-on experience with Git-based version control (branching, PR reviews) and the ability to run, debug, and troubleshoot automated tests within CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)

  • Ability to critically evaluate product requirements and risks to determine the most effective testing approach, knowing when to automate and when manual exploration yields better results

  • Upper-Intermediate (B2+) level of English for working with internal knowledge bases, documentation, and cross-office communications

As a plus:

  • ISTQB Foundation Level certification

  • Familiarity with modern web automation tools and custom test frameworks built around Playwright or similar engines

  • Experience using AI coding/testing assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to speed up testing processes

  • Experience ensuring the quality of LLM and agentic solutions, specifically focused on evaluating prompt stability, tool integration, and managing non-deterministic behavior.

  • Exposure to SQL for data validation and experience working with logs/monitoring tools (Grafana, Loki) for debugging and defect investigation
