Summary

QA Engineer owning testing across Wink's loyalty platforms: setting test scope by risk, triaging bugs, and building automated UI/API regression (Playwright, Postman) with AI-assisted tooling, plus CI pipeline and test environment work. Remote within Australia, with a monthly in-person day near Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

About Wink

We’ve walked in the shoes of our clients, which gives us a unique understanding of the challenges they face. We’ve been responsible for loyalty, acquisition and retention, spend and share of wallet driving in corporate, member based, leisure, entertainment, hospitality, event and retail environments together with the full range of B2B, B2C and B2B2C segments.

Every member of our team has had direct responsibility for commercial and customer experience in retail and big brands, in Australia and internationally.

We don’t just hire “agency” people. We are a group of experienced professionals who have worked on both sides so we can deliver the style of service our clients and their customers want, while consistently bringing innovation and automation.

Position Objective

We’re looking for a Quality Engineer to own testing across our platforms and lead the growth of our automated, AI-assisted testing. You’ll be our QA specialist, working closely with our developers, Engineering Manager and account managers. We’re looking for someone to start as soon as possible.

Position Specifics

  • This is a remote role based in Australia, with a preference for Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. You’ll need a quiet, secure home workspace with reliable internet.

  • If you’re based in or near Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, you’ll join an in-person team day once a month, plus occasional training and workshops.

  • Test platforms used by some of Australia’s biggest brands.

Key Accountabilities

  • Test every change before release, set test scope based on risk;

  • Contribute acceptance criteria and risk review at refinement, so issues are caught before build, not after;

  • Triage incoming bugs: reproduce them, separate genuine defects from user error, and add regression tests for confirmed bugs;

  • Build automated UI and API regression from one suite that runs across all our platforms, using AI tools to build coverage quickly;

  • Explore edge cases and the customer experience, and check builds against designs;

  • Work with the Engineering Manager on pipelines, test environments and test data;

  • Keep our test documentation and coverage register current.

Skills, Style & Experience

  • At least three years in QA, across manual, exploratory and automated testing;

  • The judgement to scope testing based on risk, independently of how a change is described to you;

  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to write and maintain automated tests, and the judgement to check what they produce;

  • Experience with UI test automation (Playwright or similar) and API testing (Postman or code);

  • The confidence to hold agreed scope and give a clear release call, while working closely with developers;

  • Clear written communication: testable acceptance criteria and bug reports developers can act on;

  • Familiarity with CI pipelines, Jira and basic SQL;

  • Experience with visual regression testing, multi-tenant or white-label platforms, or loyalty, payments or gift cards is highly desirable.
