QA Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven work experience in software quality assurance in technical SDET roles
• Significant understanding of software testing concepts and processes, including testing levels, methods, types, and estimation techniques
• Experience building test frameworks from scratch to support all levels of the testing pyramid
• Strong experience developing test automation solutions for web-based products
• Experience developing test automation solutions in .NET using C#
• Experience testing distributed systems and developing automation solutions for them
• Experience building performance test benchmarking solutions for .NET solutions
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to work with team members and stakeholders
• Curiosity, advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile team environment
• Extensive experience using continuous integration and delivery tooling
• Awareness of advances in engineering tools and practices, especially in testing
• Desirable: Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud services and infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure as Code concepts
• Desirable: Experience with containerisation technologies, including Docker, ACA, and Kubernetes
• Desirable: Experience with chaos engineering and testing tools
• Desirable: Experience with automated security testing tools
• Desirable: General knowledge of the insurance industry
• Desirable: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a relevant discipline

Responsibilities:

• Define test strategies for major new features and applications
• Design, implement, and document test environments and frameworks to support agreed strategies
• Work with the Product Owner to define user stories and acceptance criteria
• Define technical test plans focused on automation across all levels of the test pyramid
• Develop automated unit, integration, system, and end-to-end tests
• Develop performance, load, stress, and soak test solutions
• Execute functional and non-functional tests, both manually and automatically
• Review and debug product and test code to identify defects or performance bottlenecks
• Support the Product Owner in closing stories by confirming acceptance criteria and defect fixes
• Analyse test data and produce reports for relevant checkpoints and milestones
• Participate in Agile and Scrum activities, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, and help improve team velocity, processes, and engineering practices
• Participate in software design meetings and work with software engineers to build testability and best practices into product architecture and code
• Investigate new testing tools and methodologies and integrate them into team practices and continuous integration processes
• Liaise with other teams to share knowledge and best practices
