QA Lead - Enterprise POS & Sales Management Systems

Open 24d

Summary

Lead a QA team to ensure the quality of enterprise POS and sales management systems handling live retail and F&B transactions, integrating with payments, loyalty, inventory, and back-office systems.

About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on QA Lead to own the quality strategy for our enterprise Point-of-Sale (POS) and sales management platforms. These systems process live retail and F&B transactions across hundreds of terminals and multiple store locations, integrating with payment gateways, loyalty/CRM, inventory, and back-office reconciliation. You will set the testing direction, lead a team of QA engineers, and be the final quality gate before releases reach production.

This is a leadership role with real technical depth — you will still get into test design, automation frameworks, and difficult defects, while mentoring the team and working closely with development, project management, and client stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
• Own the end-to-end QA strategy, test plans, and release criteria for enterprise POS and sales management systems.

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of QA engineers — allocating work, reviewing test coverage, and growing the team's capability.

• Design and oversee functional, integration, regression, performance, and UAT testing across POS terminals, back-office, and connected services.

• Drive test automation — establish and maintain automation frameworks for UI, API, and mobile POS, and lift the ratio of automated coverage over time.

Validate transaction-critical flows: payments (EMV/contactless), refunds, voids, discounts and promotions, tax, tender types, and end-of-day reconciliation.

• Verify hardware and peripheral integration (card readers, receipt printers, scanners, cash drawers) and online/offline sync behaviour.

• Own defect management — triage, prioritise, track to closure, and report quality metrics to delivery leads and clients.

• Coordinate integration and end-to-end testing with third-party systems (payment providers, ERP, loyalty/CRM, inventory, middleware).

• Plan and execute performance and load testing for peak trading conditions.

• Support UAT with clients and manage go-live readiness, including production verification and rollback validation.

• Champion QA best practices, embed quality early in the SDLC, and contribute to CI/CD pipeline quality gates.

Required Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of QA / software testing experience, with a strong track record on enterprise-grade transactional systems.

Proven experience leading a QA team — allocating work, mentoring, and being accountable for a team's output and quality.

Domain background in POS, retail, payments, or sales management systems (or closely comparable transaction-heavy platforms).

• Solid understanding of the full QA lifecycle: test strategy, planning, estimation, execution, defect management, and reporting.

• Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g. Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium) and API testing (e.g. Postman, REST Assured).

• Experience with test management tooling (e.g. Jira, Zephyr, TestRail, Xray) and defect tracking.

• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into build and release flows.

• Strong understanding of integration testing across systems and services (payments, CRM/loyalty, inventory, middleware/APIs).

• Excellent communication skills — able to work with developers, project managers, and non-technical client stakeholders.

Fluent in both English and Chinese — able to work across English and Chinese-speaking teams, clients, and documentation.

Preferred / Nice to Have
• Experience with payment certification and PCI-DSS-relevant testing.

• Performance and load testing experience (e.g. JMeter, k6, Gatling).

• Exposure to cloud-hosted systems (AWS, Azure, or similar) and microservices/API architectures.

• Experience testing mobile and tablet-based POS deployments.

• ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.

• Prior experience in a system integration or enterprise delivery environment.

What Success Looks Like
• Releases ship on schedule with a low and falling defect-escape rate to production.

• A measurable, growing base of automated regression coverage.

• Clear, trusted quality reporting that delivery leads and clients rely on for go-live decisions.

• A capable, well-mentored QA team that scales with the project portfolio.
