QA/QC Engineer
Summary
A construction QA/QC Engineer who supports the QA/QC Manager in implementing the project Quality Management System on-site: conducting inspections, maintaining ITPs and checklists, tracking NCRs and defects, and coordinating testing with consultants and subcontractors. Core knowledge areas include Singapore Standards, quality documentation, ISO 9001, and MS Office/Excel.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist the QA/QC Manager and Senior QA/QC Engineer in implementing the project Quality Management System.
- Monitor construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and quality requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and identify workmanship issues, defects and non-conformities.
- Prepare and maintain inspection checklists, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality records.
- Coordinate inspection and testing activities with consultants, subcontractors and relevant testing agencies.
- Review inspection requests and verify that completed works comply with approved requirements before submission for inspection.
- Monitor incoming construction materials and verify that approved materials are used on site.
- Assist in concrete, structural, architectural and other relevant inspections and testing activities.
- Follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), defects and corrective actions.
- Monitor subcontractors' compliance with approved method statements and quality requirements.
- Assist in reviewing subcontractors' inspection and testing records.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors and site teams to resolve quality-related issues.
- Assist in conducting quality audits and site quality inspections.
- Monitor rectification works and verify that defects and non-conformities are properly closed.
- Maintain proper records of inspections, test results, material approvals, NCRs and quality documentation.
- Assist in preparing daily, weekly and monthly QA/QC reports.
- Participate in quality coordination meetings and technical discussions.
- Assist in providing quality briefings and guidance to site personnel and subcontractors.
- Ensure quality documentation is properly updated and filed for project records.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with applicable Singapore Standards, codes of practice and project specifications.
- Support project completion, defects rectification and handover activities.
- Perform other quality-related duties as assigned by the QA/QC Manager.
Job Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in construction QA/QC.
- Experience with large-scale building construction projects is preferred.
- Experience in hospital, healthcare, institutional or complex building projects will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of construction inspection, testing and quality control procedures.
- Familiarity with ITPs, inspection checklists, method statements and quality documentation.
- Knowledge of construction materials and basic testing requirements.
- Experience in NCR, defect management and corrective action processes.
- Familiarity with Singapore Standards and relevant construction requirements.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System will be an advantage.
- Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Able to work effectively with engineers, consultants, subcontractors and site personnel.
- Able to work independently and meet project deadlines.
