QA/QC Inspector Welding Onsite
Job description
QC Welding Inspector will be responsible for the site-based welding activities including piping, tank, structural welding for main development facilities and equipment located in Majnoon Oil Field. A good candidate would have a solid multi-discipline oil & gas operations knowledge and related supervisory and inspection experience in a similar capacity with a good understanding of project specifications, norms, and regulations as well as international codes.
Support and promote project HSSE requirements within QA/QC activities and inspections. QA/QC Welding inspector will monitor contractor and subcontractor welding work including piping/structural, tank, vessels, equipment, works progress/performance, interface with responsible engineers and construction supervision team.
QA/QC Welding Inspector reports to Site QA/QC Lead and has a reporting line to the Quality Assurance Discipline.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Responsible for monitoring and reporting compliance with project specifications, drawings, codes, standards and procedures of all fabrication, installation, erection and testing processes during construction leading to mechanical completion.
- Witness inspection/test within their disciplines based on approved ITPs.
- Monitor execution of field welding & NDT work activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, quality requirements, procedures, safety standards.
- Prepare inspection reports outlining specific recommendations and liaise with field supervisors regarding their implementations.
- Monitor all welding activities on site and ensure that all welding joints are welded as per approved WPSs.
- Attend all WPQR's mechanical testing to ensure complete implementation with the requirements.
- Witness all Contractor's welding qualification tests and evaluate their visual and NDT results.
- Witness all site NDT activities, carry out interpretation for test results and evaluate the findings.
- Monitor the clean build policy on site and make sure it is implemented on site.
- Make sure preservation procedure is applied and ensure the relevant inspection records signed off.
- Witness all line walk and hydrotest packages as per test packages and subsystem.
- Maintain records of calibration, inspection and testing equipment.
- Provide sufficient feedback to QA/QC Lead on daily quality issues.
- Shall be conversant with the final HO documentations.
- Play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed.
- Ensure closure of all RFI's and related inspection/test records (ITRs) immediately after successful completion of each inspection.
- Liaise and work closely with the site's contractor quality inspection team.
- Raise and support closure of NCRs in coordination with QA/QC Lead.
Skills and experience:
- Minimum 10 years quality management experience within the oil and gas industry.
- Valid CSWIP / AWS / BGAS / ISO 9712 Level II certification.
- Good knowledge of international standards and all relevant local standards and laws.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, AWS, ISO NDT-related codes.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Must be proactive and possess good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient in English language.
Educational experience:
- Preferred engineering degree.
- Professional accreditation preferred.
- Successful completion of ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor training or transition course, preferred.
