Rotation: 48 hours/week (8 hrs/day, 6 days a week)

Job purpose
Ensure all works (earthworks, concrete, steel structures, foundations, drainage, roads, etc.) are executed in full compliance with project specifications, drawings, codes, and standards.
Provide independent inspection and verification of contractor activities in line with approved ITPs and QCPs.
Monitor and follow-up the quality performance of EPC contractor and subcontractors during construction.
Identify, report, and follow-up non-conformities (NCRs) and ensure proper corrective actions.
Support and promote project HSSE requirements within QA/QC activities and inspections.
Job responsibilities
Inspection & quality control
- Perform daily site inspections for all civil and structural works including earthworks, grading, compaction, foundations, piling, concrete works, structural steel erection, roads, drainage, and infrastructure works.
- Witness and verify construction activities and tests such as soil testing, compaction tests, concrete tests (slump, cubes, curing), rebar inspection, formwork checks, structural alignment and installations.
- Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports and provide progress and quality status feedback.
- Interface with QA/QC lead and discipline engineers, construction team and supervisors, third-party inspectors and laboratories.
- Support resolution of technical and quality issues.
HSE responsibility
- Ensure all inspection activities are conducted in compliance with HSE requirements.
- Report unsafe acts or conditions and promote a safe working environment.
- Participate in toolbox talks, audits, and incident investigations.
Ensure compliance with:
- Approved drawings and AFC documents
- Project specifications and standards
- Applicable international codes
ITP / TQ / documentation
- Review and follow applicable Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) and Quality Control Plans (QCP).
- Witness hold, witness, and review points as per agreed inspection levels.
- Review and validate Inspection Reports (ITR), RFI, test results, and as-built documentation.
- Ensure traceability and proper quality records management.
Contractor supervision
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor construction quality practices.
- Attend inspections and tests, quality walkthroughs, and site coordination meetings.
- Ensure contractor implements approved procedures and method statements.
- Ensure corrective actions for non-conformities are implemented.
Non-conformities & reporting
- Issue and track NCRs, observations, and punch items.
- Verify closure of corrective actions.
- Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports and provide progress and quality status feedback.
Coordination
- Interface with QA/QC lead and discipline engineers, construction team and supervisors, third-party inspectors and laboratories.

Technical qualification & skills
Professional experience
- More than 10 years of experience in civil/structural construction and QA/QC inspection on large EPC/EPSCC construction projects (oil & gas, infrastructure, utilities, or large industrial plants).
- Previous experience as Structural & Civil Works Inspector or equivalent role on major projects.
- Experience in Middle East projects and/or remote site operations is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction methods including concrete works, earthworks, foundations, steel structures, inspection techniques and test witnessing.
- Familiarity with ITP / QCP / NCR processes and international standards (ACI, ASTM, BS, ISO, etc.).
Level / diploma
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Professional accreditation preferred.
- Successful completion of ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor training or transition course is preferred.

Context & environment
Basrah Oil Company (BOC) is undertaking the Iraq Common Seawater Supply Project (CSSP) to provide treated seawater to the oil fields in southern Iraq for injection. Phase 1 capacity will produce 5.0 million barrels of water per day (MMBWPD), with a subsequent full buildout phase of 7.5 MMBWPD (5 MMBWPD phase 1 plus 2.5 MMBWPD). The project includes the following components for the Phase 1 capacity:
- Site development and non-process buildings
- Ancillary systems and buildings
- Marine works
- Seawater treatment facility
- Power generation facility (power plant)
- Fuel gas pipeline and fuel gas stations
The position will be permanently assigned to site during construction, working in a multicultural environment.
