QA Software Engineer

A QA Software Engineer joins the Technology Team at a construction group to embed quality across its software platforms and products, working closely with developers, product managers, and designers from early development stages. The role is based in the Maroochydore area and focuses on building reliable, secure, high-performing applications.
We’re looking for a talented QA Software Engineer to help drive quality across our software platforms and products. Working as part of our Technology Team and reporting to the Product Lead, you’ll collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers to ensure quality is embedded throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks across web, mobile, and API environments.
- Build and execute automated API test suites for RESTful and GraphQL services.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable software releases.
- Continuously improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and platform reliability.
- Review functional requirements, user stories, and technical specifications to provide early quality input.
- Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, risk assessments, and edge-case scenarios.
- Perform exploratory testing and validate data integrity using SQL-based database testing techniques.
- Collaborate with development teams to define clear acceptance criteria and quality standards.
- Defect Management & Continuous Improvement
- Identify, document, prioritise, and track defects using Jira and other project management tools.
- Execute regression testing to ensure new releases do not impact existing functionality.
- Support testing audits and quality assurance practices aligned with industry standards.
- Contribute to process improvements that strengthen product quality and delivery outcomes
- Work closely with cross-functional Agile teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Advocate for quality-first engineering practices and testable software design.
- Mentor and support junior QA team members through knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong programming experience in one or more of the following: Python, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium WebDriver.
- Experience testing APIs using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent tools.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience testing relational databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to build effective relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
- Passion for continuous improvement and delivering outstanding software experience.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 3-5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or software testing roles.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Certification will be highly regarded.
