QC Inspector - Piping (Plumbing)
General Characteristics (Job Summary)
- Contribute to the improvement of the site quality by handling quality issues on the site in general according to the corporate and project quality standards.
- Responsible for preparing quality activities in accordance with quality management system established.
- Carrying out inspections on discipline Responsible to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements, and recording its result
- Ensuring inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Performing inspections on particular disciplines and recording its results on the forms as per ITP established.
- Updating inspection status by using systematic tools such as inspection matrix
- Preparing the Inspection records to be reflected on MC Doc.
- Performing surveillance that tests are conducted as per international codes and standards.
- Reporting nonconformities and observations found during inspections to QC Supervisors and QC Managers.
- Co-ordinating inspections with client inspectors.
- Preparing NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) under QC Supervisor or QC Manger’s directions.
- Prepare, review and track material submittals required for the discipline.
- Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.
- Generating client Requests For Inspection (RFI) where required providing sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
- Reviewing and tracking material submittals required for the discipline Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.
Discipline Specific
- Understanding of piping and plumbing materials, fittings, and connections
- Applying Piping codes and standards (e.g. ASME B31.3, API 570)
- Applying Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), IPC, ASME 31.9, NFPA 13, 14, 20, 99, IBC, UFC and/or equivalent standards.
- Piping and Plumbing fabrication and installation methods and techniques
- Non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques for piping and plumbing
- Inspection and testing of piping and plumbing systems
- Piping and plumbing documentation requirements
- Hydrostatic test package preparation and control
Education and Experience
- The candidate shall have a university degree and a total of seven (7) years of experience in inspection, or a high school diploma with a total of ten (10) years of experience in inspection.
- As minimum, the candidate shall have three (3) years directly relating to supervision of construction activities in the Contract Scope of Work (e.g.; oil, gas and petrochemical projects, Infrastructure, communication).
Knowledge
- Discipline knowledge and experience in Pipelines, process vessels, storage tanks, piping racks, pipe bridges
- Inspector shall demonstrate a thorough knowledge of codes such as the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), IPC, ASME 31.9, NFPA 13, 14, 20, 99, IBC, UFC and/or equivalent standards.
Technical and Behavioral Competency
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Inspection techniques and tools, material testing methods, and documentation.
- Well versed in MS Office
- Attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently
