Quality Assurance and Quality Control Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring the quality of products and services provided by the company. This position develops and implements quality assurance plans, tests products and services to verify compliance with established standards, and communicates findings and recommendations to management. This position works closely with other cross-functional teams to identify potential errors, gaps in established standards, and develop improvements that promote a more efficient and effective production process. The position also contributes to the profitability and sustainability of the business by coordinating, supervising, controlling, and evaluating the activities within the analysis laboratory. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining and administering the organization's management systems and ensuring the required documentation is accurate, current, and maintained in compliance with applicable certification standards and organizational requirements.

Work is performed under nominal direction with considerable latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position develops solutions to non-routine issues, without appreciable guidance from others and exercises significant latitude in determining best approaches to critical assignments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Identify and evaluate the process performance deviation.

• Trigger root cause analysis according to the requirements based on process deviations.

• Work independently and follow the policies dictated by the Technical Director and SCGC.

• Perform other tasks specific to your position that are detailed in the SCGC policies.

• Reject samples that do not meet the requirements to be tested and record any comments on them in the corresponding register.

• Keep in your custody the different records of the QA/QC system.

• Keep samples that are not being tested in an organized and orderly manner.

• Abide by the provisions and responsibilities assigned to you in this Job Description.

• Maintain and improve processes through the contribution of ideas, corrective and preventive actions of the QA/QC system. GMP+ / Save Feed Save Food SFSF / Kosher 4PO.

• Maintain quality records and reporting. Accurate inspection records, calibration records, audits findings.

• Prepare different process control reports, such as agricultural reports, sugar cane reports, mills, and manufacturing reports.

• Ensure the quality of the data obtained as a result of the laboratory analysis. Perform statistical analysis for the Sugar Cane payment process. And production process

• Conduct and support internal and external audits and surveillance audits and prepare the reports to meet the Organization Quality System GMP+ standard requirement.

• Follows organizational safety guidelines and protocols, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures

• Promote continuous improvement based on non-conformities obtained from internal or external audits.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• May schedule and motivate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; make recommendations regarding disciplinary action.

• Quality Assure emphasizes process definition, prevention, standards, and systems.

• Quality Control emphasizes inspection, testing, measurement, and detection of defects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years of directly related industrial production process experience;

• OR a combination of experience, certification, education and training that demonstrates expertise in the related areas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preventive Control Qualified Individual (PCQI) Certification

• Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification

• Bilingual – English and Spanish

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Thorough knowledge of sugar chemistry and analysis techniques

• Thorough knowledge of managing and maintaining a quality feed safety management system

• Thorough knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards related to laboratory operations

• Skill in using mathematics required for the work (statistical process control)

• Skill in problem-solving and analysis

• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior workers

• Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, orally and in writing

• Ability to plan, assign, and guide the work of assigned staff

• Ability to follow public safety guidelines and protocols and perform job functions in a safe manner
