Quality Assurance Engineer - South Bank, QLD

NewBe an early applicant

Summary

QA Engineer at Flight Centre Travel Group in South Bank, Brisbane (hybrid), leading end-to-end website testing for the FCB Delivery team. The role builds test plans and automated frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Jest, Postman), embeds quality gates into CI/CD (GitHub Actions), and mentors developers on quality practices using JavaScript/TypeScript.

At Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) our purpose is to 'open up the world for those who want to see'. Every day, we give people all around the world the opportunity to experience something amazing – travel!

The Quality Assurance Engineer will play a critical role in driving product excellence by leading testing initiatives, improving engineering efficiency, and helping teams proactively manage risk. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to build quality into every stage of development while championing automation and continuous improvement.

You will join the FCB Delivery team within the Leisure Travel pillar, where you'll implement and maintain the end-to-end website testing framework to proactively identify and mitigate issues. Your responsibilities will also include supporting the wider team with: conducting peer reviews with developers, working with the Technical Lead to define test cases during project discovery, partnering with the Delivery Lead on sprint planning and UAT sign-offs for production releases, among other duties as required.

Day to day:

  • Lead quality engineering initiatives through the creation of test plans, test cases, acceptance criteria, and automated testing solutions to ensure high-quality software delivery

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks and CI/CD quality controls that support reliable and efficient product releases

  • Drive quality as a shared responsibility across the team by embedding testing and quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle

  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to identify risks, solve quality challenges, and improve engineering efficiency

  • Coach and mentor developers and team members on quality engineering, test automation, and continuous improvement best practices

  • Deliver quality reporting, dashboards, and automation initiatives while identifying and addressing process limitations to improve transparency and outcomes

You'll be perfect for the role if you have:

  • 3+ years' experience planning, coordinating, and reporting on software testing efforts across projects, with strong experience in application, integration, API, and end-to-end testing

  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks including Cypress, Playwright, Jest, Postman, BrowserStack, or similar technologies

  • A solid understanding of agile team practices and sprint events, and how quality fits into each of them

  • A self-organised, self-motivated approach: you can pick up ambiguous quality problems, decide where the risk actually sits and drive the work without being directed

  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience developing and maintaining automated test solutions

  • Experience implementing automated testing, quality gates, and continuous testing practices within CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions

  • Relevant degree-equivalent education, training, or demonstrated expertise in Quality Assurance. Experience with AWS, performance testing, observability tools (Splunk/New Relic), ISTQB certification, and the Quality Assistance model will be highly regarded.
