Posted Updated 2 views
Discussion
Our client, a global OEM of mining equipment and mining operational technology, is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer – Test Automation to join its Brisbane-based product development team.

You’ll work on a sophisticated mining operational technology platform used to manage, automate and optimise large-scale mining operations around the world. The technology supports areas including fleet management, asset tracking, operational visibility, equipment health, safety and increasingly autonomous mining operations.

This is a hands-on QA role within a high-performing, multidisciplinary software product development team. You’ll take ownership of quality across the delivery lifecycle and help ensure complex software solutions meet high standards of reliability, performance and usability.

The role is an initial 12-month contract with strong potential for extension. You will be required to work from the Brisbane office 5 days per week, although there is flexibility around start and finish times.

The Role

Working closely with Software Engineers, Product Owners and other stakeholders, you will be responsible for embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Owning end-to-end quality for user stories, from test approach through to execution and sign-off
  • Creating and maintaining test plans, manual and automated test cases, reusable scenarios and test reporting
  • Designing, building and maintaining automated tests across UI, API and backend services
  • Testing REST APIs, including error handling and role-based access control scenarios
  • Developing and improving automation frameworks using tools such as Playwright and Cucumber
  • Integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
  • Planning and executing regression, acceptance and exploratory testing
  • Supporting test environment readiness and test data management
  • Investigating defects, troubleshooting test failures and improving test stability
  • Applying risk-based testing approaches to maximise coverage
  • Participating in design discussions, backlog refinement and code reviews
  • Promoting shift-left testing and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle
  • Communicating quality status, risks and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced QA Engineer who is comfortable working in a technically complex software product development environment.

Ideally, you will have:
  • 4+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance, Software Testing or a similar software delivery role using:
    • Playwright
    • Cucumber / BDD
    • TypeScript / JavaScript
    • Java
    • GitHub Actions or other CI/CD technologies
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile delivery
  • Strong experience designing and maintaining automated test suites
  • Hands-on experience testing REST APIs
  • Strong test design skills, including risk-based and exploratory testing
  • Experience triaging defects and troubleshooting automated test failures
  • Strong understanding of modern test automation practices
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A collaborative approach to working with software engineering and product teams
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or Australian Permanent Residency
  • Ability to work from the Brisbane office 5 days per week
Experience with some of the following would be highly regarded:
  • Page Object Model or similar maintainable automation design patterns
  • Complex, distributed or enterprise-scale software platforms
  • Mining, industrial, operational technology or safety-critical systems
Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to work on globally deployed mining technology that has a direct impact on the safety, productivity and efficiency of major mining operations.

You’ll join a collaborative product development environment where quality engineering is embedded throughout the software lifecycle rather than treated simply as a final testing activity.

Location: Brisbane
Contract: Initial 12 months
Office: 5 days per week
Working Hours: Flexible start and finish times

If you’re an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer with strong automation experience and enjoy working on complex technology products, we’d like to hear from you.
