About the Role

As the Head of Quality Assurance, you will champion software quality, reliability, and automated testing frameworks across our entire technology stack. In the high-stakes world of online grocery and quick-commerce—where a single bug in real-time inventory syncing, payment gateways, or rider dispatching can disrupt customer trust and warehouse fulfillment—your leadership is vital.

You will lead, structure, and scale our QA and testing engineering teams. Working hand-in-hand with our Head of Data Engineering and Software Engineering leads, you will establish rigorous test automation pipelines, validate complex data accuracy, and ensure that our web platforms, mobile apps, and supply chain engines deliver a flawless, high-performance user experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. QA Strategy & Test Architecture

• Define and execute the comprehensive quality assurance and testing strategy across the entire software and data lifecycle.

• Architect and implement end-to-end automated testing frameworks (UI, API, mobile, and backend data integrity testing) to accelerate deployment velocities without sacrificing quality.

• Establish QA metrics, KPIs (e.g., defect leakage rate, test automation coverage, mean time to resolution), and automated reporting dashboards to monitor platform health.

2. Data Quality & Pipeline Validation (Partnering with Data Engineering)

• Collaborate closely with the Head of Data Engineering to build validation mechanisms for ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring data accuracy between source operational databases and cloud data warehouses.

• Implement automated data quality checks (schema validation, null checks, row-count tracking) to guarantee that business intelligence, demand forecasting, and inventory systems run on clean data.
  

3. Performance, Load, & Security Testing

• Oversee rigorous non-functional testing, specifically simulation stress tests for high-traffic e-commerce events (e.g., midnight payday sales, holiday grocery rushes, and flash sales).

• Ensure stringent security, vulnerability, and compliance testing standards are met, aligning with Philippine data protection laws.

4. Team Leadership & Culture of Quality

• Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of QA automation engineers, manual testers, and performance specialists.

• Foster a "shift-left" quality culture, embedding testing early in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and collaborating with product managers and software engineers.

• Manage vendor partnerships, testing tool licenses, and continuous improvement initiatives within the QA department.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Release Management

• Act as the final gatekeeper for production releases, owning the release readiness sign-off protocol for mobile apps, web stores, and internal logistics/warehouse tools.

• Partner with Product and Operations teams to translate business requirements and user stories into precise edge-case acceptance criteria.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.

• At least 8 years of total experience in software quality assurance, with at least 3 to 5 years in a leadership/management role (e.g., QA Manager or Head of QA).

• Proven track record in fast-paced consumer tech industries, specifically e-commerce, fintech, logistics, or multi-platform digital services, within the Philippine market.

Technical Skills & Expertise

• Test Automation Expertise: Advanced proficiency in automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium for mobile apps).

• Programming & Scripting: Strong command of coding languages used for test scripting, such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript..

• API & Backend Testing: Extensive experience testing GraphQL APIs, RESTful APIs,, microservices, and messaging queues.

• Data Testing & CI/CD: Familiarity with database querying (SQL) and integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipeline, AWS Code Pipeline)).

• Performance Testing Tools: Hands-on experience with load and stress testing tools like JMeter and k6.

• Cloud Platforms: AWS, GCP
