Your role in the mission:

Type One Energy is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to support the ongoing development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). This role will work closely with the Quality Assurance team members and cross-functional stakeholders to build scalable processes and support the company’s growth from research and development through manufacturing, deployment, and commercialization.

The Quality Assurance Specialist will support quality initiatives across engineering, procurement, supplier management, and manufacturing activities while helping ensure that quality requirements are effectively integrated into company processes. This is a broad, hands-on role that requires a proactive individual who is comfortable working in a dynamic environment where processes are evolving and continuous improvement is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the Quality Management System, including policies, procedures, work instructions, and supporting processes.
  • Support Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Program teams in implementing quality requirements, reviewing quality-related documentation, and improving process effectiveness.
  • Conduct internal audits and process assessments to evaluate compliance with Quality Management System requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Track audit findings through closure and verify implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support the identification, documentation, investigation, and resolution of nonconformances, quality issues, and process deviations.
  • Facilitate root cause investigations and support the development, implementation, and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Assist in developing quality metrics, dashboards, and reports used to monitor quality objectives and process performance.
  • Support supplier quality activities, including supplier evaluations, documentation reviews, supplier corrective actions, and supplier performance improvement initiatives.
  • Support development of inspection methods, acceptance criteria, verification activities, and quality controls for products, components, and processes as needed.
  • Promote awareness of quality requirements, quality objectives, and continuous improvement principles throughout the organization.
  • Support training activities related to quality processes, procedures, and Quality Management System requirements.
  • Research applicable industry standards, quality best practices, and emerging requirements to support the evolution of the company's quality framework.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in quality assurance, quality systems, quality engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems principles and practices including auditing, CAPA, nonconformance management, root cause analysis, and continual improvement.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience reviewing technical, engineering, manufacturing, or supplier documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Experience supporting quality investigations, corrective action activities, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and operate independently in a dynamic and evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, energy, aerospace, nuclear, medical device, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Experience conducting internal audits or supporting external audits.
  • Experience supporting supplier quality programs, supplier assessments, or supplier corrective action activities.
  • Experience supporting design and development, new product introduction (NPI), or transition-to-production activities.
  • ASQ certification such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or progress toward certification.
  • Experience working in a startup, high-growth, or rapidly evolving technical organization.
  • Interest in or familiarity with fusion energy, advanced energy technologies, or complex engineering environments.
