Quality Assurance Supervisor - 1st Shift
Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Assurance (QA) and Food Safety programs in a Ready-to-Eat (RTE) USDA facility. This role ensures that all products meet the company's quality standards and regulatory requirements, particularly focusing on USDA guidelines for RTE products. The QA Supervisor will lead a team of technicians, work closely with production staff, and ensure the highest levels of food safety and quality are maintained throughout the production process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or associate degree in quality assurance or related field is preferred
- 2-3 years of Quality Assurance experience within a USDA food environment.
- HACCP and SQF certifications are preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Assurance programs, including HACCP, SOP, GMP, FDA, and USDA regulatory compliance.
- As an SQF Co-Practitioner, assists with implementing, verifying, and validating the SQF program.
- Ensure adherence to RTE food safety standards, focusing on critical control points and environmental monitoring.
- Oversee the implementation of quality systems to ensure products meet established specifications.
- Lead, mentor, and train the QA team.
- Schedule and manage QA staff to ensure adequate coverage.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, discuss challenges, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare for and assist in managing internal and external audits, including USDA and third-party inspections.
- Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and readily available for audits.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Oversee testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Investigate and resolve any deviations from product specifications, including conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure that shelf-life testing, microbial analysis, and sensory evaluations are conducted as per the established protocols.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in food safety and quality processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and supply chain, to resolve quality issues and enhance overall product quality.
- Monitor and analyze quality metrics, providing reports and recommendations to management.
Lead, mentor, and train the QA team, including QA Tech 1 and Tech 2 employees. Schedule and manage QA staff to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts.
