Quality Control Engineer

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the overall quality of manufactured products, including but
not limited to developing standard quality inspection processes, monitoring quality standards, resolving
defects, driving standard procedures, and creating internal and external customer required
documentation. You will work independently as well as with various departments within the organization.

1. Ability to read and interpret detailed fabrication and machining drawings
2. Utilize various types of metrology equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges,
thread gauges, hardness tester, and laser alignment system
3. Ensure raw materials used in manufacturing processes are in conformance with shop drawings
4. Designate acceptance or rejection of machined, welded and outsourced components
5. Interface with area supervisors, machinists, and welders to coordinate required repairs and/or
replacements as necessary
6. Perform visual inspection of shop weldments verifying weldments are in accordance with shop
drawings and applicable AWS standards
7. Oversee ultrasonic shear wave testing (UT), liquid dye penetration (PT), and magnetic particle
testing (MT) performed by others
8. Test and measure finished components and sub-assemblies, verifying they are within
specifications and meet fit, form and functional requirement for final crane assembly
9. Document inspection activities/results and prepare inspection reports
10. Support quality systems including document control, calibration, nonconforming parts process,
CAR, management review, and internal auditing
11. Work with management to ensure inspections/audits are completed and non-compliances are
addressed
12. Assist with emergency action planning and response through site plans/preparedness, regulatory
records/reporting, and higher risk workplans
13. Support maintenance management system procedures and implementations
14. Act as a liaison between business and QSTR shared service team

17. Other duties as assigned

• A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college
or university in a related discipline is preferred. In the absence of a degree, directly related
education, training, certifications, and professional experience demonstrating the knowledge,
skills, and abilities required for the position may be considered, where a number of years and
proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement.

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification strongly preferred; CWI must be obtained within 1
year from start date
• Experience in interpretation of fabrication, machining, weldment, and assembly drawings and
project specifications
• Experience with various machining, welding, and assembly processes
• A working knowledge of manufacturers and industry standards, including AWS D1.1 and AWS
D14.1, is a plus
• Previous experience in internal auditing within manufacturing field preferred
• Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
