Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead the Quality Control function, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will drive quality assurance initiatives, oversee welding and material testing, implement continuous improvement strategies, and lead a high-performing quality team to support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management:
* Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's Quality Control policies, procedures, and systems.
* Ensure compliance with applicable ISO, NEN-ISO, customer, and regulatory quality standards.
* Prepare and implement quality plans for manufacturing and processing activities.
* Monitor production quality and ensure adherence to approved quality specifications.
* Coordinate welding inspections, material testing, and qualification of welding procedures.
* Review, validate, and issue quality documentation and certification in accordance with customer requirements.
* Conduct root cause analysis on quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
* Monitor industry developments and recommend improvements to quality systems and processes.
2. Leadership & Operations:
* Lead, mentor, and supervise the Quality Control team, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with established procedures.
* Allocate work effectively, conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and support employee development.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence within the department.
* Manage departmental budgets, resources, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and induction of new quality personnel where required.
3. Reporting & Continuous Improvement: BusinessOperations
* Prepare periodic quality performance reports and present recommendations to executive management.
* Develop business cases and cost-benefit analyses for quality improvement initiatives and investments in inspection or welding technologies.
* Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
* 10-15 years' experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance within the Steel, Mining, Heavy Manufacturing, Fabrication, or Industrial Engineering sector.
* Strong knowledge of ISO Quality Management Systems, welding inspection standards, material testing, and quality documentation.
* Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives and managing quality management systems.
* Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
* Excellent communication, reporting, and team management abilities.
