Quality Coordinator
Quality Control Monitoring
- Inspect corrugated boards and finished boxes for defects (e.g., warp, crush, printing errors, bonding issues).
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
Process Audits
- Monitor production processes (corrugator, converting machines).
- Conduct regular audits to ensure procedures are being followed correctly.
Data Collection & Reporting
- Track quality metrics such as defects, waste (scrap), and rework.
- Prepare reports and analyze trends to identify recurring problems.
Customer Complaint Management
- Investigate complaints and identify root causes.
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure adherence to ISO standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain documentation for audits and certifications.
Training & Support
- Train operators on quality standards and inspection techniques.
- Work closely with production, maintenance, and management teams.
Industry-Specific Focus (Corrugator)
In the corrugator process (making corrugated board from linerboard and medium), quality coordinators pay special attention to:
- flute formation and consistency
- adhesive (glue) application and bonding strength
- board thickness and compression strength (ECT/BCT)
- moisture control and warp/curl issues
- print quality (if pre-printed liners are used)
QUALIFICATIONS: Key Skills
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of testing methods (ECT, BCT, Cobb test, etc.)
- Problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with quality systems (ISO 9001, Lean, Six Sigma)
- Communication and teamwork
Qualifications:
- The Qualification for Quality Coordinator is the ability to meet the requirements of the job with or without accommodation.
- Experience in manufacturing (corrugated/packaging preferred)
- Background in quality control, industrial engineering, or related field
- The ability to read, write and speak English
- Working knowledge of MS Office and database systems
- Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to accurately read a measuring tape
- Strong communication and organizational skills, both orally and in writing
- Follow instructions, ask questions and work effectively as a member of a team
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: 1-2 yrs. Proven experience as a Quality Coordinator in the manufacturing sector preferably corrugated with knowledge of quality systems and testing procedures
Computer Skills: MS Office and database systems
Other Requirements Disables: Able to effectively communicate with team members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent and/or occasional standing and walking throughout an eight-hour shift., reaching, (must be able to reach with hands and arms) pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, bending, climbing, lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
