Quality Engineer

JOB FUNCTION: This position is responsible for completing and supporting PPAP submissions, product inspections, quality documentation, root cause analysis and corrective actions while ensuring products meet customer, engineering and applicable quality requirements.
JOB DUTIES
- Prepare, coordinate and complete Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions, including dimensional results, control plans, capability data and required supporting documentation.
- Perform dimensional inspections and product evaluations using precision measurement and inspection equipment to verify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, technical specifications and customer-specific quality requirements to establish appropriate inspection criteria.
- Investigate internal, supplier and customer quality concerns and lead root cause analysis, corrective actions and 8D activities through resolution and effectiveness verification.
- Support new product development, product changes and customer requirements by developing inspection plans, control plans and other required quality documentation.
- Analyze inspection results, nonconformance data and quality trends and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and other teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Support the calibration, control and maintenance of measurement and inspection equipment within the Corporate Quality Lab and maintain accurate quality records.
- Support compliance with ISO 9001 and the company’s Quality Management System, including participation in internal and external audits, corrective actions and maintenance of required quality documentation.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Strong knowledge of PPAP requirements and quality documentation
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and GD&T
- Knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective action and structured problem-solving methods
- Knowledge of calibration and measurement system requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection and quality results
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate quality issues across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to manage multiple PPAPs, customer requirements and quality projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with ERP, quality management and document control systems.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent technical education and relevant quality experience will also be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, inspection or a related technical quality role preferred.
- Experience preparing and completing PPAP documentation strongly preferred.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System preferred.
- Experience in an industrial, machining, hydraulic, automotive or similar technical product environment is preferred.
