We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join an innovative software company specializing in HR and payroll solutions. Their products help organizations manage workforce administration, payroll processes, and employee data efficiently and securely.
As part of a growing international team, you'll contribute directly to ensuring the quality, stability, and performance of business-critical applications used by thousands of users every day.
About the Position
As a Quality Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing testing strategies across multiple software products. You'll work closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, and German-speaking stakeholders to validate requirements, improve automation coverage, and continuously enhance overall product quality.
You'll contribute to the full testing lifecycle, from test case design and execution to automation, performance testing, reporting, and process improvement.
This is a highly collaborative role where communication is just as important as technical expertise. Since most stakeholders are based in Germany, professional German language skills are mandatory.

What We're Looking For
- Currently living in Portugal (mandatory)
- German language proficiency at C1/C2 level (mandatory)
- 3+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering
- Experience designing, implementing, and executing automated test cases
- Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies and testing life cycles
- Experience writing, managing, and maintaining test cases and test plans
- Knowledge of functional, integration, regression, load, and performance testing
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
- Ability to work effectively within agile software development teams
- Strong self-organization and ownership mindset
- Good English communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with Selenium, Playwright, JUnit, Arquillian, or similar testing frameworks
- Experience with JMeter, Gatling, or other performance testing tools
- API testing experience
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates
- Experience maintaining and extending automated testing frameworks
- ISTQB certification or equivalent QA certifications
- Experience evaluating and introducing new testing methods, frameworks, and tools
- Experience working with enterprise software, payroll, HR, ERP, or workforce-management solutions

Location & Travel
This role is fully remote from Portugal.
Candidates must already be based in Portugal and possess German language skills at C1/C2 level. Daily communication with German-speaking stakeholders is an essential part of the position.
Occasional travel to Germany may be required for onboarding, workshops, team events, or key project milestones.
