Quality Engineer
Description
Don't just find defects. Help us prevent them.
Are you someone who loves figuring out why things happen, finding better ways to do things, and turning problems into solutions? Do you enjoy being on the manufacturing floor, working alongside people, and seeing the results of your ideas come to life?
At Manthei Wood Products, we're looking for a Quality Engineer who is passionate about making things better. This isn't a job where you'll sit behind a desk reviewing inspection reports all day. You'll be in the middle of our manufacturing operations, working with our production teams to improve processes, solve problems, reduce waste, and make sure we're producing the best possible products for our customers.
This is a fully, on-site position in Petoskey, Michigan. Working directly with our LEAN Champion, you'll play an important role in strengthening our quality culture and driving continuous improvement throughout our operations.
Manthei Wood Products offers a full benefits package including free health care via an employer sponsored Direct Primary Care provider, health insurance, 401k with employer match, paid time off, paid holidays, profit sharing, access to an onsite Success Coach, and more!
What You'll Be Doing
-
Be a Problem Solver: Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and develop solutions that prevent problems from happening again.
-
Make Good Products Even Better: Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve product consistency, quality, and performance.
-
Drive Continuous Improvement: Partner with our LEAN Champion and production leadership to reduce scrap, rework, defects, and waste.
-
Follow the Data: Track quality metrics, identify trends, and turn data into actionable improvements.
-
Get on the Production Floor: Work directly with supervisors and operators to understand challenges, improve processes, and build quality into every step.
-
Own Corrective Actions: Coordinate corrective and preventive actions, monitor results, and make sure improvements stick.
-
Protect Customer Satisfaction: Investigate customer complaints and work with internal teams to resolve quality concerns.
-
Build a Culture of Quality: Help employees understand quality expectations and take pride in producing products that meet our standards.
What Makes You a Great Fit?
-
Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
