Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for leading and executing nondestructive testing (NDT) activities in compliance with NAS 410, NDT 1052, and applicable customer specifications. This role involves Level III oversight, including certification program management, procedure development, personnel qualification, and part inspection.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s NDT Certification Program.
- Approve and manage outside NDT agencies.
- Ensure compliance with internal and customer NDT requirements, including completion of required gap analyses.
- Prepare and maintain NDT training materials; administer written, practical, and visual acuity examinations.
- Maintain and organize certification and qualification records for audit readiness.
- Review NDT process plans to ensure proper sequencing of inspection operations.
- Serve as or support the Responsible Level III in accordance with NAS 410.
Qualifications
- ASNT Level III or NAS 410 certification in Liquid Penetrant and/or Eddy Current, or equivalent OJT and training per NAS 410/NDT 1052.
- Must successfully complete NWI certification exams and visual acuity testing.
- Minimum of 36 months of experience as a Level II in the applicable method(s).
- Working knowledge of Rockwell Hardness and Conductivity preferred.
