About RAM Windows & Doors

RAM Windows & Doors is a rapidly growing manufacturer of residential and commercial windows and doors. RAM has manufactured high-end custom windows since 1978 and expanded its offering in 2021 to include high-end custom exterior doors. The company continues to expand its product lines and market presence, creating opportunities for hardworking, motivated and results-driven professionals.

Position Summary

RAM Windows & Doors is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to ensure that materials, components, work-in-process and completed door and window units meet company quality standards, customer specifications, engineering requirements and established manufacturing procedures. This position reports to the Quality Manager / Operations Manager and works closely with Production, Engineering, Materials and Management.

The primary focus of this role is preventing defects from reaching the customer. The Quality Inspector will inspect product at every stage of production, document results, contain non-conforming product and help identify and correct the root causes of recurring quality problems.

This is a hands-on, floor-based role. The successful candidate will spend the majority of the workday in production areas inspecting, measuring and testing product.

The Quality Inspector is not responsible for production quantity at the expense of quality. When product does not meet specifications, the inspector is expected to identify and contain it, hold it when necessary and immediately notify the appropriate supervisor or manager. We value consistency, objectivity and the willingness to stop questionable product as heavily as technical inspection skill.

Final Inspection & Product Verification

Check dimensions, squareness, alignment, fit, finish, hardware installation, glazing, seals, gaskets, corners, fasteners and overall workmanship. Inspect door and window operation, including opening, closing, locking, latching and proper hardware function. Verify proper glass installation, glazing, seals and weatherstripping. Conduct visual inspections for scratches, dents, damage, discoloration, missing components, poor assembly and other cosmetic defects. Ensure completed units are properly labeled, packaged and protected prior to shipment.

Measurement & Inspection Methods

Perform measurements using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, gauges, squares and other inspection equipment. Verify product dimensions and tolerances using engineering drawings and specifications. Apply quality standards consistently across all employees, shifts and production areas.

Non-Conformance & Containment

Identify, tag and contain defective or non-conforming product. Determine whether product can be reworked, repaired or must be rejected, following established procedures. Communicate quality problems promptly to Production Supervisors, Leads, Engineering and Management. Stop or hold questionable product when necessary.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

Maintain accurate inspection records, quality reports and non-conformance documentation. Monitor recurring defects and communicate trends to management. Assist with identifying root causes of quality problems and implementing corrective actions. Help train production employees on quality requirements and proper inspection standards when requested. Maintain a clean, organized and safe inspection area. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
