Morson is collaborating with one of Europe’s foremost aerospace manufacturers to recruit a Quality Lineside Engineer to join their team at the Chester site.
Job Brief
- Exclusively Night Shifts
- Monday to Thursday, 8:45pm – 6:00am
- 30% shift uplift on base rate
Mission and Objectives
- Provide dedicated support to the Production Team and Autonomous Production Team (APT).
- Assist in identifying, analysing, and resolving technical issues beyond the scope of Operators and First Line Managers (FLM).
- Maintain a comprehensive, end-to-end perspective at shopfloor level within both the Production Team and APT.
- Drive continuous production efficiency through effective utilisation of available resources and expertise.
- Contribute to Operational Excellence by supporting ongoing improvements to operational processes.
- Develop, maintain, and deliver essential work documentation to shopfloor technicians to minimise lead-time impacts and manage unplanned workloads.
- Ensure effective coordination with relevant support functions through proactive interface management.
Key Deliverables
Inputs:
- Notifications of production issues (e.g. NC, email, eLog book entries).
- Availability of logistic kits within the Production Team and current work orders.
Outputs:
- Technical analysis and detailed documentation for Assembly Anomalies (AM) and Non-Conformities (NC).
- Design Query Notes (DQN) addressing process and equipment disruptions or deviations.
- Rework work orders.
- Management and resolution of outstanding work.
- Provision of technical information, including drawings, references, parts, tooling, and documentation.
Main Tasks and Activities
Disruption Management – Daily / On-Shift Lineside:
- Support the identification of NCs on the shopfloor.
- Assist with assessment and creation of NCs and NC notifications.
- Complete NC forms accurately, ensuring all relevant information is captured, and support resolution efforts.
- Monitor NC processes to facilitate timely containment and corrective actions.
- Support supply chain quality management by providing necessary data and documentation related to NC handling.
Continuous Improvement
- Provide on-shift support for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify production issues and escalate unresolved problems beyond FLMs and Operators to Work Preparation (PE), Line Balancing (PPE), Maintenance, MAP, OSW, or other relevant support teams.
- Assist in analysing industrial systems and processes to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support Work Improvement Proposals (WIP) and waste elimination in line with LEAN principles.
- Contribute to process validation forms (PVF) and failure analyses (FA).
