Job purpose

To inspect and to carry out quality control checks before and during lube and grease blending and cooking, LPG cylinder bottling, filling, packaging, and dispatching operations to ensure that quality control procedures and processes are effectively adhered to by all lube and grease plant staff and LPG staff. To ensure quality control of all raw materials before they are stored and issued to production lines and delivered to the customer. To ensure the quality of LPG cylinders before dispatching.

Job specific accountabilities

  • Support the overall QC implementation of finished products, raw materials, and feedstock to ensure all works are done in accordance with the QC standards and procedures in supporting the overall corporate QC objectives.
  • Support the implementation of in-process inspection of lube and grease products to ensure and maintain product quality and to support the production and to make any adjustments in the production and process parameters.
  • Inspect the quality of all incoming packaging materials to ensure that they conform to the required specifications before they are stored and issued to production lines.
  • Carry out quality checks during blending and filling operations of lubricants, greases, brake fluids, coolant, etc. Ensure that the appropriate packaging materials are used and that the weight, grade name, batch number, and filling date, etc. are correct on all containers and cartons used in filling lines.
  • Verify and approve the packaging test results on finished products at various phases (e.g., at on-line production, at silo, at bagging) by utilizing the product QC testing methods and procedures and examine against the product QC specifications in order to ensure customers consistently receive products as per their requirements.

Job specific accountabilities (continued)

  • Inspect export dispatches at random (trucks and containers) for the quality of drums, cartons, and pails in lubricants stores (Mussafah and Sas Al Nakhl) to ensure quality control.
  • Take care of preparation of samples of lubricants and their packaging (cans, pails, and the artwork) as per specific requirements, for dispatches to customers or chemical suppliers.
  • Carry out daily quality control checks of all finished goods, and stocks of drums, cartons, and pails in order to detect any leakages, damages, etc., and report to the concerned section heads or supervisors for corrective action.
  • Ensure correct quality procedures are followed during decanting and repackaging of products.
  • Inspect the incoming LPG cylinders (new and old), pallets, valves, and other supply parts received in the LPG store to ensure that they conform to the required specifications before they are stored and issued to production lines.
  • Supervise the filling operations during LPG cylinder filling and cross-check the correct quantity of product is filled. Ensure that faulty cylinders are identified and repaired or discarded.
  • Carry out daily quality control checks of all filled cylinders and stocks of cylinders, valves, regulators in order to detect any faults, damages, etc., and report to the concerned section heads or supervisors for corrective action.
  • Ensure correct quality procedures are followed during LPG receiving, filling, and dispatch operations.
  • Inspect and verify the calibration of all weighing machines in lube and grease plant and LPG plant at defined frequencies.

Reporting and analysis

  • Prepare and submit daily inspection reports for filling operations, reporting on any quality issues, and making suggestions to improve the quality procedures and controls to senior QC officer or department manager.
  • Develop and maintain quality documents (manual, procedure, work instructions, forms, etc.) as and when required in line with ISO requirements.
  • Coordinate ISO 9001 / ISO 17025 quality assurance system in his section and maintain all documents up to date.
  • Initiate any quality control process improvement suggestions to enhance effectiveness and quality of filling and packaging procedures.
  • Implement quality control procedures and policies.
  • Analyze and interpret quality data and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for employees on quality control procedures.
  • Assist in the resolution of customer or client quality issues.
  • Plan and maintain internal audits.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by senior QC officer or department manager.

Minimum qualification

Bachelor’s degree in science, chemistry or equivalent.

Minimum experience, knowledge and skills

  • 4 years of experience in a similar role in the oil and gas industry.
  • Knowledge of ISO regulatory requirements.
