Quality Systems Specialist - Mars Snacking
Job Description:
The Quality Systems Specialist role safeguards the Quality and Food Safety of Canadian Market products and business processes as well as ensures compliance to both Regulatory and Global Standards. It also acts as a liaison with one or more of the three Market segments (Food & Nutrition, Pet Nutrition, and Mars Snacking/Accelerator), External Manufacturers and/or Distribution Centers. The selected candidate requires a high level of self-direction.
What are we looking for?
- University degree in a relevant Science (e.g. Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering etc.).
- 2+ years of food manufacturing/market unit experience in a responsible position related to either quality and food safety, R&D and/or supply chain.
- Experience in Auditing – Lead Auditor Certification an asset (must be obtained within 6 months of starting the role (Training will be provided by the Company).
- Demonstrated understanding of Quality Management and Food Safety Systems.
- Project management skills and the ability to execute.
- Ability to work independently and drive investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, and projects to completion.
- 5% of Travel is required.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Support the Segments by conducting market quality panels, training, and providing recommendations to improve brand and product quality.
- Support activity management and new product introductions by leading qualifications at co-packers, conducting risk assessments, and providing support to External Manufacturers.
- Maintain and support the implementation and compliance of Global Q&FS standards for the Canadian Market Unit
- Investigate and rectify issues related to quality and food safety through the incident management program.
- Ensure hold management of non-conforming product within the Canadian market.
- Review and conduct risk assessments for Concessions and Change Controls to assess the impact to the Canadian Market Unit.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive product quality, cost reduction, process capability and consumer/customer complaint reductions.
- Support external business partners including External Manufacturers and Distribution Centers including acting as a Lead Auditor
- Participate in the Mars Canada Internal Audit team and support 2nd and 3rd party Market Unit audits.
- Support customer requests for information related to Q&FS.
- Support Q&FS inventory management including SLOMO, Donations and Destructions
- Will be required to be on site at the National Office, Distribution Center, and External Manufacturers on a Hybrid basis as aligned with your line manager
- Responsible for following all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures including completing any required training (e.g. License to Operate).
