Overview:

The position will assist in maintaining quality measures, standards, processes, and procedures relating to business needs.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Promote a safe work environment by following and auditing company safety policies, GMPs, and Food Safety Management System (SQF) requirements.
  • Investigate customer complaints and product quality issues by analyzing data, documenting findings, supporting root cause analysis, and following up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Troubleshoot material, process, and extrusion issues impacting product quality, and work with Production Supervisors to resolve core issues.
  • Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, evaluate manufacturing issues, and recommend alternative solutions and process improvements.
  • Participate in product Hold & Release decisions and determine the disposition of finished products and incoming raw materials based on quality standards and product specifications.
  • Maintain laboratory and operations testing equipment, laboratory supplies, equipment matrix, and ensure current specifications, setup standards, and documentation are maintained.
  • Support R&D projects, raw material qualifications, internal audits, operational inspections, and participate on cross-functional teams and committees as needed.
  • Monitor and report plant food safety to Quality Management and assist with customer complaint follow-up, including inspection of returned materials and sample verification.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and food safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect and interpret data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation Information:

The hourly range for a Quality Technician is $21.00 to $24.00. The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location, this pay range is for a successful candidate in the Chicagoland area. The specific hiring rate within the posted range will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
