Quantum Control Designer
Summary
The Quantum Control Designer will design, model, and test high-fidelity quantum operations for quantum computers, working closely with hardware teams to implement and benchmark new methods. The role requires a PhD in a relevant field and strong proficiency in Python for scientific computing.

What You’ll Accomplish
- Design control methods for high-fidelity and fast quantum operations
- Contribute to the development of accurate physics models based on real hardware specifications
- Work with the hardware teams to implement new methods on our quantum devices
- Develop procedures for benchmarking quantum operations
- Analyse experimental results and compare them against theoretical predictions and models
Requirements
The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates:
- Experience in designing control methods for high-fidelity quantum operations
- Strong background in the theory of light-matter interactions and modelling quantum dynamics in software
- A proven track record of collaboration with experimental research groups and/or the quantum hardware industry
Must-have Skills (in addition to the above):
- Experience with circuit-level quantum noise models and benchmarking of quantum operations
- Proficient in writing scientific code, e.g. using Python
- PhD in quantum computing, quantum control or similar
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results in the field of research.
- This role can be based in Hamburg or worked remotely, but you must be based in Germany for this position.
