Quantum DevOps Engineer – Job Description

Overview

We are looking for a Quantum DevOps Engineer to bridge the gap between quantum software development, classical infrastructure, and automated deployment pipelines. You will support quantum application teams by building scalable CI/CD workflows, integrating quantum frameworks, and ensuring reliable, secure, and high‑performance execution environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for quantum and hybrid (quantum–classical) applications.

  • Automate deployment of quantum workloads across cloud‑based quantum providers and on‑premise simulators.

  • Integrate quantum SDKs (e.g., Qiskit, Cirq, Braket, Q#, PennyLane) into development workflows.

  • Manage containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) for quantum simulation environments.

  • Implement monitoring, logging, and performance optimisation for quantum compute jobs.

  • Ensure security, compliance, and reproducibility of quantum development processes.

  • Collaborate with quantum researchers, software engineers, and infrastructure teams.

  • Support versioning, testing, and validation of quantum algorithms and hybrid pipelines.

  • Contribute to infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible) for quantum environments.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong DevOps background (CI/CD, automation, cloud infrastructure).

  • Experience with Python and at least one quantum SDK (Qiskit, Cirq, Braket, Q#, PennyLane).

  • Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and quantum cloud services.

  • Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi).

  • Understanding of quantum computing concepts (gates, circuits, hybrid workflows).

  • Strong debugging, optimisation, and systems‑thinking mindset.

  • Ability to work with cross‑functional teams in research and engineering.
