R&D Software Engineer — ARIS Flows (Backend)
The R&D Engineer will be responsible for driving the design, development, and enhancement of ARIS Flows — our next-generation AI-powered workflow automation engine. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and customer support. This role demands a passion for innovation and the ability to translate complex business requirements into cutting-edge technical solutions, leveraging AI at every stage of the development lifecycle.
Essential Functions:

Technical implementation of innovative backend components for the ARIS Flows component, including AI integration (LLM orchestration, RAG pipelines, vector stores for service discovery)
Design and extend the flow execution and trigger framework — including expression language evaluation, scheduler integration, and multi-tenant execution
Apply AI-assisted development practices throughout the full software lifecycle: using tools like Claude Code for code generation, automated review, test authoring, and documentation
Support the entire product lifecycle, from requirements analysis to testing and cloud deployment
Work in an Agile software development process in international, cross-site teams
Collaborate with UX experts, product management, and global support
Enhancement and maintenance of existing products
Monitor/triage customer issues, troubleshoot and resolve defects

Minimum requirements:

3–6 years of experience in software development
Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, Spring AI) and Maven-based build systems
Basic understanding of modern AI technologies
Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) as part of your daily engineering workflow — not just familiarity, but fluency
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI) and CI/CD pipelines, vector stores, ANTLR-based DSLs, or workflow/BPM engines is a strong plus
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
