Rail Equipment Mechanic
Summary
Performs preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on trucks, high rail systems, and cranes in a shop environment, ensuring compliance with DOT and safety regulations.

- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, High Rail Systems and light duty cranes.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
- Install and replace parts, such as belts, filters, spark plugs, and batteries.
- Conduct vehicle inspections, High Rail Inspections, Crane Annual Inspections and provide recommendations for repairs or replacements
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, including lights, batteries, and ignition
- Troubleshoot Hydraulic Systems
- Troubleshoot High Rail Systems
- Keep accurate records of repairs, parts, and maintenance
- Stay current with automotive technology and repair techniques
- Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste.
- Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical, and HVAC
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Minimum of [2] years of experience in automotive repair
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent vocational school required.
- At least 2 year's related experience required.
- This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours depend on location.
- The shop has a climate similar to outdoor weather. Frequent exposure to loud machinery, air tool operation, hammering and engine noise.
- Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 75 lbs.
- Able to fit into a 20” cargo trailer dome opening.
- Able to meet safety standards for fall protection harness – max weight 310 lbs. (includes all PPE worn)
- Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Stand for long periods of time.
