Position Overview
Road & Rail Services is hiring a Railcar Inspector/Prep employee in Greensburg, Indiana. In this hands-on position, you will inspect and clean railcars before vehicles are loaded for transportation.
Your work will help protect newly manufactured vehicles from damage and ensure each railcar is clean, properly prepared, and ready for loading. This is an active position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, pays attention to details, and takes pride in completing work safely.
What You'll Do
As a Railcar Inspector/Prep employee, you will:
Inspect railcars for damage, wear, and signs of structural fatigue
Help safely open and close railcar end doors
Determine whether identified repairs can be completed by Road & Rail Services
Position and inspect vehicle securement equipment
Use backpack blowers, scrapers, and other tools to remove dirt and debris
Confirm railcars meet company, customer, and industry requirements before loading
Properly use, maintain, and account for assigned tools and equipment
Keep railcars and surrounding work areas clean and organized
Follow all company, customer, and site operating procedures
Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or repair needs
What the Work Is Like
This is an active, outdoor position that may involve climbing, bending, reaching, walking, and using cleaning equipment throughout the shift. Work is performed in changing temperatures and weather conditions.
You will work in a fast-paced rail environment where following safety procedures and communicating with your team are essential.
