Ramp Agent
Summary
Performs aircraft ground support: marshals planes, loads/unloads baggage and cargo, services aircraft, and maintains ramp safety and cleanliness.
Job Summary
The Ramp Agent plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient turnaround of aircraft by performing various ground support tasks. This includes baggage handling, aircraft marshaling, loading, and unloading cargo, and assisting with aircraft servicing. This position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, wind).
What you will do
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment around aircraft and ramp areas.
- Marshals inbound aircraft into the ramp area of the assigned gate.
- Assist with aircraft lavatory servicing, and restocking supplies as needed.
- Grooms aircraft passenger cabin between flights.
- Services aircraft water tanks to ensure there is enough drinking water on the plane.
- Stocks aircraft with needed supplies for lavatories or galleys.
- Loads, unloads and delivers bag carts in the bag room with baggage from the ticket counter for outgoing flights and delivers them to the aircraft.
- Loads, unloads and delivers passenger baggage, cargo, and mail into aircraft bins while the plane is parked at the gate from bag carts.
- Pushes back outbound aircraft out of the gate area.
- Tows aircraft to remote areas at the airport if there are too many aircraft on the ground and not enough gate space.
- Conduct FOD walks in the ramp area between flights and security checks before departure.
- Communicate effectively with flight crews, dispatchers, and fellow ground personnel.
- Adhere to airline and regulatory safety procedures, including handling hazardous materials.
- Performs assigned administrative duties on a voluntary basis (e.g. GSE fluid inspections and appearance, FOD walks, washing equipment and removing trash from ramp area).
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to ensure smooth airport operations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent
- Driver’s License is a plus
- Previous experience in ground handling or aviation is an asset but not required.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy baggage (up to 70 lbs) and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, wind).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Must be flexible with work hours, including weekends, holidays, and shift work.
- Valid driver’s license (preferred).
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain airport security clearance
