React Engineer

Every piece of art deserves to be seen.
Smartist is the leading art visualization app, with over 1M downloads across 175 countries and a 4.8★ rating. Artists use us to turn their work into photorealistic mockups in seconds, then sell it.
Now we're building Smartist Studio: the all in one platform for the whole art business. Everything around the art, so artists can get back to the art. We're looking for a React engineer to build it with us.

What you'll do
Build and ship the Smartist Studio web app in React and TypeScript
Turn Figma designs into interfaces that feel fast, clean, and obvious. Our users are visual people with high standards
Work directly with design, product, and the iOS team. Small company, short feedback loops, your work goes live within the week
Own features end to end, from spec to ship to the analytics that tell you if it worked
Keep the codebase healthy through reviews, tests, performance work, and accessibility

What we're looking for
2+ years building production React apps with TypeScript
Strong fundamentals: hooks, component design, state management, data fetching
You care how it looks. Pixel accuracy, responsive layouts, motion that feels right
Comfortable with Git, code review, and shipping in small increments
Clear communicator in English, ready to work remotely

Nice to have
Next.js, React Native, or Tailwind
Canvas, WebGL, or image manipulation in the browser
Experience building AI powered features
Design system instincts and fluency in Figma
You make things outside of work too

Why Smartist
Work from anywhere. Fully remote, flexible hours. We care when you ship, not where you sit.
Ownership. You're joining as Smartist Studio is being built. You'll shape the frontend architecture, the component system, and how the whole thing feels, rather than maintaining someone else's decisions.
Impact. Your work ships to artists in 175 countries, on a product rated 4.8★. We release weekly, so you see it live within days.
The intersection of art and technology. Our users are painters, photographers, sculptors, and gallerists. The work is visual, and the standard is high.
AI that supports artists, not replaces them. That principle is non negotiable here, and it shapes what we build.
Competitive salary based on experience, plus [paid time off, learning budget].

How to apply
Send your CV and something you've built. A live link beats a repo, and a repo beats a description. If it was a team project, tell us which part was yours.
