About the company

Our client is a law firm.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Work alongside senior lawyers on sophisticated property transactions, handling much of the drafting and deal coordination from kickoff to closing. Collaborate with colleagues across locations and build specialist knowledge through ongoing training.

What you'll do

- Assist a partner in guiding multi-part property deals that combine financing and development elements.

- Own the central drafting and coordination work on each matter while a partner or senior counsel directs strategy.

- Prepare and negotiate the core agreements for sales, ventures, lending and entity formation.

- Coordinate with lawyers, support staff and other deal participants in different offices to reach closing.

- Guide paralegals and junior colleagues on live matters.

- Join regular internal training to deepen specialized knowledge.

- Cultivate client relationships and contribute to a friendly, team-oriented workplace as an early member of the local group.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- Roughly 3 to 6 years handling commercial property transactions, which should make up most of your career.

- Time spent at a law firm rather than solely in a corporate legal department.

- A meaningful role on purchases, sales, ventures, development or lending matters.

- A history of acting for property owners or builders.

- A JD from an accredited law school.

- Solid skill drafting and revising transactional documents.

- Capacity to help move a transaction forward from start to finish.

- Working knowledge of layered financing arrangements.

- An energetic, collaborative style that suits a team working side by side in person.

- Enthusiasm for learning from experienced attorneys.

- Living in the Buffalo area or having strong local ties, and being able to work on site Monday to Thursday.

- Openness to occasional travel to another office.

- Comfort with an annual billable hours minimum of 1,750.

Bonus points

- Familiarity with affordable housing or tax credit deals.

- Understanding of tax credit funding structures.

- A background in mergers or tax law, if most of your work has been in property transactions.

- A strong academic record.

Benefits

Compensation and benefits

- Base salary: USD 155,000 to 185,000 per year

- Annual bonus

- Health coverage

- Retirement plan with employer match

- Paid time off and holidays
