This position requires direct supervision of male residents within private living areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms to ensure safety and program compliance. As a result, this position is limited to male applicants as a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) reasonably necessary to protect resident privacy.

The Recovery Connector provides practical, ongoing support and mentorship to male clients in a residential setting who are in addiction recovery, acting as a guide, accountability partner and role model to help them build sober lives, overcome obstacles, set goals and connect with resources – complementing clinical treatment with real-world, daily life skills and encouragement. They offer a level of acceptance, understanding, and validation by sharing their own lived experience and practical guidance. They walk with clients on their recovery journeys and dispel myths about what it means to have a mental health or substance use disorder.


Job Functions

  • Meet with residents directly in their living spaces to discuss recovery goals, deliver emotional support and model healthy daily habits.
  • Recognize early signs of distress, mental health struggles or relapse triggers while inside the residence and use de-escalation strategies.
  • Teach life skills, coping mechanisms, stress management strategies.
  • Foster a sense of community and mutual respect among male roommates, helping to resolve conflicts.
  • Offer personal insights from your own recovery journey, providing hope and practical advice.
  • Help clients establish personal recovery goals and create actionable plans to achieve them.
  • Link clients to community resources, providers, housing and employment opportunities.
  • Support families in understanding addiction and recovery.
  • Assist client to and from appointments.
  • Assist in clerical duties such as making copies, keeping logs up to date, manage clinical resources and videos.
  • Provide back up front desk coverage when needed.
  • Complete weekly progress reports on clients within caseload.
  • Maintain and monitor client records to ensure documentation is complete and adheres to program guidelines.
  • Set up, clean up and reset rooms for training, groups and lectures; co-host groups.
  • Assist with enforcing client policies such as designated smoking areas and cell phone use.
  • Stay current with new advances in SUD and mental health treatment through seminars, conferences, and continuing education classes.



Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field and 6 months of experience working within a related behavioral health field or in lieu of degree, at least 2 years of related work experience in a behavioral health field preferred.
  • Lived experience of mental health and/or substance use disorders
  • A minimum of 1 year of continuous sobriety
  • First Aid / CPR Certification
  • Crisis Intervention Certification
