Looking for more than just another job? Want to do work that actually matters?

At Milestone Addiction Treatment, we're looking for caring, dependable, and motivated individuals to join our Virginia Beach team as Behavioral Health Technicians / Recovery Support Specialists (RSS).

You don't need previous experience in behavioral health or addiction treatment to make a difference here. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your ability to connect with people, and your desire to help others through some of life's most challenging moments.

If you've worked in customer service, security, hospitality, caregiving, retail, or any other people-focused role, you may already have many of the skills we're looking for.

We'll provide the job-specific training and guidance you need to get started.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to begin a meaningful career in behavioral health, mental health, or addiction recovery.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Behavioral Health Technician / Recovery Support Specialist, you'll be an important part of our clients' daily recovery experience. You'll work alongside our clinical and support teams to help create a safe, positive, and structured treatment environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting clients in recovery: Offer encouragement, guidance, and day-to-day assistance to individuals working toward healthier lives.

  • Helping maintain a safe environment: Monitor client activity and well-being, conduct routine safety checks, and help maintain a comfortable, structured setting.

  • Building positive relationships: Connect with clients through respectful communication, patience, and understanding while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

  • Assisting with daily operations: Help with client admissions, intake paperwork, documentation, and other routine activities.

  • Supporting clients during difficult moments: Remain calm and professional when clients experience emotional challenges, frustration, or uncertainty, following established procedures.

  • Participating in safety procedures: Assist with drug screenings, breathalyzer testing, room inspections, and observation of medication administration in accordance with company policies and training.

  • Working as part of a team: Collaborate with clinical professionals, supervisors, and fellow team members to provide consistent, compassionate care.

  • Supporting client transportation: Safely transport clients when needed and in accordance with company requirements.

  • Maintaining professionalism: Respect client confidentiality, follow HIPAA guidelines, maintain accurate records, and comply with all organizational and regulatory requirements.

Don't worry if you've never performed these duties before. We'll help you learn the responsibilities and procedures involved in the position.

What We're Looking For

We're not necessarily looking for someone with a perfect résumé or years of healthcare experience.

We're looking for the right person.

Someone who is:

  • Compassionate: You genuinely care about people and want to make a positive impact.

  • Dependable: You show up on time, follow through, and understand that others are counting on you.

  • Patient and understanding: You can work with people who may be having a difficult day without becoming easily frustrated.

  • A strong communicator: You're comfortable talking with people, listening carefully, and working as part of a team.

  • Calm under pressure: You can remain professional and follow procedures when situations become challenging.

  • Willing to learn: You're open to coaching, training, and developing new skills.

  • Professional: You understand the importance of confidentiality, appropriate boundaries, and treating everyone with dignity and respect.

Qualifications

  • No previous behavioral health or addiction treatment experience required.

  • Previous experience in customer service, security, hospitality, caregiving, residential services, or similar people-focused positions is welcome.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to follow instructions, maintain accurate documentation, and work effectively with others.

  • Ability to meet company transportation and driving requirements.

  • Willingness to work assigned shifts, which may include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, or holidays.

  • Ability to complete required job training and meet applicable employment and regulatory requirements.
