Summary
Oversee campus game room operations, supervise staff, officiate intramural sports, and support student events while ensuring a safe, fun environment.
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Student Life, the Recreation Aide serves as a leader within the Campus Recreation program. This position responsible for overseeing Game Room operations, supervising Game room Attendants, assisting with recreational programming, officiating intramural sports, and supporting student events. Recreation Aides help create a fun, inclusive, and safe environment while providing excellent customer service to students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Arrive on time and prepare for all scheduled shifts.
Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating Game Room Attendants.
Maintain inventory of video games, gaming systems, equipment, and supplies.
Monitor Game Room operations during assigned shifts.
Check out games, controllers, and equipment to participants.
Keep the Game Room clean, organized, and welcoming.
Report equipment damage and maintenance needs to the supervisor.
Submit marketing requests for upcoming programs and events.
Respond to emergencies according to First Aid/CPR training and university procedures.
Attend Campus Recreation Leadership meeting and conduct Game Room staff meetings.
Maintain accurate records of hours worked and submit times sheets by required deadlines.
Officiate intramural sports contests.
Assist with pre-game and post-game logistics and administrative duties.
Prepare and inspect game sites before activities begin.
Understand and follow emergency and evacuation procedures.
Promote Campus Recreation programs and educate participants on policies.
Verify participants eligibility for intramural competitions.
Attend all requires official training clinics.
Provide exceptional customer service in a friendly and professional manner.
Assist with Arts@HU events and other campus programs.
Advertise and promote student events.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move recreational equipment (up to approximately 25-50 pounds as needed).
Ability to demonstrate and officiate recreational sports activities.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and daytime shifts.
