Recreation Attendant
The Recreation Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while creating a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable environment for members and guests using the Recreation and Fitness Center. This position oversees the day-to-day operation of the fitness center, monitors the safe and proper use of equipment, maintains a clean and organized facility, and supports the Club's recreation programming. The Recreation Attendant also assists with beverage service by preparing coffee, smoothies, and alcoholic beverages in accordance with Club policies and applicable laws.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily operations of the Recreation and Fitness Center.
- Welcome and assist members and guests in a friendly, professional manner.
- Provide outstanding customer service by responding to questions and resolving member concerns.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Recreation Center's programs, services, and amenities to assist members and promote participation.
- Provide equipment orientations to new members or upon request.
- Monitor the fitness center to ensure equipment is being used safely and properly.
- Report maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to management promptly.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all fitness equipment, locker areas, and recreation spaces throughout each shift.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned.
- Prepare and serve coffee, smoothies, and other non-alcoholic beverages.
- Serve alcoholic beverages responsibly in accordance with Club policies and state liquor laws.
- Work collaboratively with Massage Therapists, Fitness Instructors, and other Recreation staff to provide an exceptional member experience.
- Promote a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for members of all ages.
- Assist with Club events, recreation programs, and special activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with an outgoing, positive attitude.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with members and guests.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Predictable and reliable attendance is required.
Education & Experience
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Experience in hospitality, recreation, fitness, food and beverage, or a private club environment preferred.
- Previous barista and/or bartending experience is preferred but not required.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and use hands to operate fitness equipment, beverage equipment, and general recreation supplies.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions when supporting recreation activities.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special Club events as business needs require.
