Recreation Specialist

About the Position: This position is located within the Military Correctional Complex and requires frequent, direct contact with inmates. The duty hours are Tuesday - Friday 1230 - 2130 and Saturday 0700-1600. This position has been designated as primary/rigorous and is eligible for Law Enforcement (LEO) retirement coverage. The maximum entry age for positions covered under this retirement is 37 years old.

As a Recreation Specialist, you will be responsible for the following:

Plan and administer a comprehensive sports program for the USDB, JRCF and Trusty Unit.

Adapt various activities to the wide range of inmate interests, needs and limitations.

Ensure the sports program complies with the American Correctional Associate (ACA) standards and with all applicable correctional standards for safety and security.

Monitor recreation areas and ensure tools, etc. are accounted for and to ensure proper security and safety of inmate

Provide training on the proper use of equipment and safety techniques as it relates to the various sports activities.

Coordinate all activities and schedules to ensure compliance with security requirements and adequate correctional staff support.
