Referral Specialist/HIS Clerk On-Call
Summary
Processes patient referrals to specialists and procedures, ensuring compliance with insurance and provider requirements while handling medical records and customer service.
The Referral Specialist/HIS Clerk is responsible for seeing that timely specialist/procedural referrals are made which follow that patient’s insurance and referring provider’s specifications.
Qualifications:
- Understands and has the ability to demonstrate the importance of exemplary customer service.
- Ability to exercise critical thinking skills, multi-task, take initiative, and take ownership to follow through with responsibilities according to established policies and procedures.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a productive member of a team.
- Ability to use multi-line phone system, computer systems, and general office equipment.
- Ability to type proficiently and understand the keyboard. Trustworthiness and accuracy in money-handling.
- Ability to adapt to change and new technologies to perform successfully.
- Ability to comply with HIPAA laws and accreditation requirements.
- Ability to correspond and access databases preferred.
