Refinery Analyst (Oil and Gas / Reporting)
Refinery & Facilities Reporting
Monitor and analyse the operational performance of refinery facilities, production units and supporting infrastructure.
Prepare regular refinery performance, facilities utilisation, expenditure and management reports for management review.
Consolidate and analyse operational data, including production performance, plant availability, throughput, efficiency, maintenance activities and operating expenditure.
Identify performance gaps, operational trends and potential areas for improvement across refinery facilities.
Work closely with refinery operations, engineering, maintenance, technical and other functional teams to gather and validate operational information.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide clear analysis and insights to support management decision-making.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports, presentations and management updates.
Support annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting and periodic performance reviews.
Monitor major facility maintenance, upgrading and improvement activities and assess their impact on refinery performance.
Conduct benchmarking and trend analysis where required to assess refinery and facility performance.
Investment & Proposal Support
Support the evaluation and development of refinery investment opportunities and facility improvement projects.
Prepare investment proposals, business cases, feasibility assessments and management presentations.
Analyse project scope, technical requirements, estimated costs, benefits, risks and potential returns.
Support project feasibility studies, process configuration reviews and technology evaluations.
Conduct research and analysis on refinery assets, facilities, market conditions, industry trends and potential investment opportunities.
Work with technical and commercial teams to develop proposals for refinery upgrades, facility expansion, optimisation and improvement projects.
Assist in preparing financial and investment models, including project costing, valuation, sensitivity analysis and return assessment.
Support project prioritisation by assessing strategic value, operational impact, financial viability and associated risks.
Monitor the progress and performance of approved investment projects against agreed objectives, budgets and timelines.
Prepare presentations and supporting materials for internal management and investment committees.
Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with refinery operations, engineering, maintenance, process technology, finance, commercial and project teams.
Coordinate with business partners, consultants, contractors and other external stakeholders when required.
Translate technical and operational information into clear reports and recommendations for management.
Support management in evaluating strategic opportunities relating to refinery assets and facilities.
Requirements
Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
Preferably 2–5 years of relevant experience in refinery, oil & gas, petrochemical, process plant, facilities, engineering, operations or investment/project analysis.
Candidates with experience in refinery operations, process engineering, facilities reporting or project engineering are highly preferred.
Strong understanding of refinery processes, plant facilities and oil & gas operations.
Experience in preparing operational, technical or management reports.
Experience in investment analysis, feasibility studies, project proposals or business case development will be an advantage.
Preferred Background
The ideal candidate would come from a refinery, petrochemical plant, oil & gas operator, EPC/project engineering environment or refineagemry investment/asset manent function, with hands-on exposure to plant/facilities reporting and the ability to translate technical information into management-level analysis and investment proposals.
