Position Summary

The Regional Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the accounting and financial reporting function for Mad Monkey Hostels' operations across Indonesia. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, maintains compliance with Indonesian accounting standards and tax regulations, and supports strategic decision-making through financial analysis and operational insights.

The Regional Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting operations, month-end and year-end close processes, internal controls, cash management, statutory compliance, and team development while partnering closely with hostel operations and regional leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Lead all accounting operations across Mad Monkey Hostels Indonesia.
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and company reporting requirements.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of financial data across all hostel locations.

General Ledger Management

• Oversee maintenance of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
• Review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and supported.
• Monitor and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.

Tax & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Indonesian tax regulations, including VAT, withholding taxes, corporate income tax, and local reporting obligations.
• Coordinate preparation and submission of tax filings with internal teams and external advisors.
• Manage relationships with tax consultants, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
• Stay informed on changes in accounting and tax regulations affecting the business.

Internal Controls & Risk Management

• Develop, implement, and monitor robust financial controls and accounting policies.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, approval matrices, and financial procedures.
• Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
• Lead audit preparation and coordinate responses to audit findings.

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

• Monitor cash positions and support cash flow forecasting.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury-related activities.
• Ensure efficient management of working capital and payment cycles.
• Support financial planning initiatives through cash flow analysis.

Budgeting & Business Support

• Partner with operations and finance leadership on budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Analyze financial performance and provide actionable recommendations.
• Support profitability analysis, cost control initiatives, and operational decision-making.
• Assist with new business projects, hostel openings, and expansion activities.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team across Indonesia.
• Establish clear objectives and performance expectations.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of finance team members.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
• Support implementation and optimization of accounting systems and financial tools.
• Promote automation and standardization across finance operations.
• Ensure accurate integration of financial data from operational systems.
