Job Description Summary

The Regional Commodity Leader supports and drives the execution of commodity purchase orders and supplier strategy within the EMEA region. The role requires close alignment with Engineering, Quality, and Project Management functions, as well as other key stakeholders. The position focuses on the direct materials commodity scope assigned to the individual role holder.

This role manages dynamic priorities with minimal guidance, and places strong emphasis on effective communication with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and suppliers.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Managing Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes and supporting follow-up activities of Purchase Orders (POs)

  • Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with suppliers for both RFQ and PO execution processes

  • Defining and contributing to the regional sourcing and commodity strategy, and executing projects in line with that strategy

  • Sourcing and developing the regional supplier panel in collaboration with Quality

  • Negotiating terms & conditions, price lists, and Long-Term Frame Agreements, and implementing Supplier Review Management

  • Performing technical reviews with suppliers prior to award decisions

  • Ensuring all functional procurement processes are compliant and effective

  • Ensuring high levels of supplier performance by managing safety, quality, delivery, and cost, while championing continuous improvement

  • Leading and driving stakeholders in the region for supplier improvement and development

  • Identifying risks to supply continuity and taking proactive measures to minimize impact on project schedules

  • Utilizing the company's ERP system to effectively manage parts availability in alignment with scheduled demand

  • Demonstrating problem-solving skills to identify root causes and prevent recurrence of supply-related issues

  • Preparing and maintaining commodity forecasts and backlog tracking

  • Supporting tendering and product activities, including price lists, costing tools, vendor list updates, and specific RFQs as necessary

  • Ensuring smooth supplier payment activities

  • Collaborating with Engineering and other stakeholders to ensure Quality and On-Time Delivery

  • Leading discussions with suppliers during execution in cases of claims or PO changes, in coordination with Project Management

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent

  • Language: Fluency in English is required

  • Experience: Significant hands-on experience in Sourcing, Commodity Management, and/or Supply Chain within a fast-paced industrial or engineering environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong track record in commodity management — including supplier selection, RFQ execution, purchase order management, and supplier performance oversight.

  • Skills: Excellent negotiation skills are essential, complemented by strong time management, coordination, and organizational abilities. Must demonstrate rapid responsiveness, the ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance, and strong communication and influencing skills across all levels of the organization.

  • Mobility: Ability to travel in the region up to 10% of the time

  • Legal: Successful applicant will be legally eligible to enter into an employment relationship under the laws of Hungary.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Solid Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, and other MS Office software skills

  • Familiarity with MV-HV Energy / Hydro Power BoP commodities

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline from a reputable institution (Bachelor's or Master's preferred)

  • French or German language skills are a plus

  • Aptitude to work in a global environment and matrix organization

  • Broad experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP)

  • Accomplished relationship-builder; energetic, forward-thinking individual

  • Excellent attention to detail; proactive and solution-oriented attitude

  • Commercial awareness: payment terms, warranty, liquidated damages (LDs)

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions at all levels

  • Flexible with worldwide travel as needed
